OK, here I go again...   I said that I didn't like the decals, because they silvered.  PNT never messaged me back, and their are no dreadnought decals in 1000 scale to be had. it's not the large numbers or letters I have a problem with, it is the name that goes on the third nacelle.  I finally found a set on e-bay, and I should have them by next week.   I didn't make the original style lower saucer dome, instead I used a left over part from the polar lights enterprise refit kit.(keep all left over, they won't spoil).    As it stand right now, I have sanded all the old decals off.  I also have repainted the hull.  2 days to dry, and I will seal it in prep to decaling, then we will see.    I might even post a pic or two

well, if you have the original blueprints,   the standard bridge isnt the one from the model.  on this class, the bridge is a few decks down.  the dome is simply a dome.  no elevator shaft,  and it isnt even the same shape... havebt gotten around to scratch building one yet

Yeah, you do have some silvering on the decals there. And did the bridge get knocked off?

Still, nice work there! Thanks for posting, I really need to get some of my starship kits built.

I haven't been able to build for some months now.  I don,t really post much either.  my cat got into my display rack and pushed several off.   the dreadnought was one of the damaged ones.  I have it back together, but the decals have a ghost showing up in the film, that I cant paint out.   still deciding what to do.   on the drawing board I have the USS Grissom, a ascension dreadnought in 1/1000 scale and a full scratch tug with 3 engines, but right now getting my daughter settled back in school, my weekend job and my helicopter school duties are keeping me busy.

sorry,  no pics on construction,   I had this kit before I knew about the fine scale sight.

As for the secondary hull,  it is a one piece part.  That with the nacel strutts.  The best way I can tell it is to dry fit the heck out if it.   I sunk the hull in a piece of card board on both sides.  That way I knew that the strutts were level and even.  Clean the thing prior to start, as per instructions.  Good super glue.  Let dry for about 2-3 days.  fill in spaces with shaved poly styrene sheets. Let dry again.  putty then sand.   Joining the primary and secondary hulls was the biggest problem.   Lining it up properly,  that is.   Paint and decal.

Looking good!  I've been stocking up on the PL 1701 refits for movie-era variant projects along these lines.

If you have any WIP pics or tips from the secondary hull construction I'd definitely like to see them.

I have had this kit in the top of my closet for a number of months, just waiting to be finished.  I finally figured out my new camera and decided to post before I broke one or the other of them!
