Space Cruiser Yamato 1:1000
Posted by Model Maniac on Saturday, April 16, 2011 10:47 AM

Bandai's Space Cruiser Yamato 1:1000. The kit contains 3 sprues in 3 color, dark red, light grey and dark grey. I sprayed over the dark red one with red paint, the dark grey one with flat black paint and the light grey one with olive green (tried light grey first but didn't like it). Painting took 20 minutes but assembling & finishing took more than 5 hours. I'm so glad I finished it finally. Images may be rather poor due to low lighting and hand shaking:

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

That takes me back!  I built one of those about 25 years ago but didn't know enough to do as good of a job as you did here.

Wow... MM did you actually build this yourself?  If so bravo for finally trying something yourself!

Ok now, I would LOVE to give you comments and criticisms and help you, but inorder for me to do so I need you to reply and tell me that...

A - you built this yourself

B - you will listen to what I say

and

C - you will use what I tell you and try and improve

I dont want to waste my breath

Sorry for late response. I've been busy lately, ordering kits like crazy from several hobby sites. Last year I bought 257 kiits total and I thought that was a lot, I'd never break that record. But this year, in less than 4 months I've already got 177 new kits and many more are on their way to me. Whether the old record will be broken is not a question. The question is "in what month this year will it be broken".

smeagol the vile - This is not my first work. I built hundreds of them in the past, and this is the page which contains 2 parts:

I'm interested in your proposal though I think this is already good enough for me. But if you have some ideas that I can improve upon this build then I'd like to hear. If I have the device/equipment I'd do it.
