Laser Rifle from Starcrash
Posted by Joe Brown on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 1:21 PM

I recently did a full scale model of the rifle that Caroline Munro's character Stella Star carried in the film Starcrash -- mainly because while the movie is... umm, somewhat bad, Caroline Munro is a sweet gracious lady who was going be at Wonderfest 2011.  And I wanted her autograph on it!

Yes, she signed it and posed with it and myself!

The build album is here:

You did a good job but that's a strange looking rifle.

Thanks!  But don't forget, Starcrash was a bit of a strange movie, too! Cool Even for 1978!

Bad? How can you call a movie with a mascara wearing David Hassellhoff fighting stop motion giant robots with a light saber bad????? Stick out tongue

Very cool build Joe of a very cheap prop. Thanks for the photos taking us though the build process.

I should have went to Wonderfest- Caroline Munro is one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the silver screen. And wow from the photos you posted and others I've seen of her even in her '60s she's still a stunner.

Come on, Joe. No off color remarks about her "touching your gun" like you said constantly at WF after that? Wink

Seriously, though, a nicely done piece of work! And I totally agree about how nice and gracious she is. Had a great time with her at the Cult Suite watching "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad".

Nope, no (more) off-color comments about her signing my gun.  Geeked

If you were at Wonderfest, you certainly heard me say that enough!

Her daughter was planning on borrowing the gun to have during that showing of "Starcrash" on Saturday evening, and I promised her that I'd have it available for her to pick up during Iron Modeler.  Due to a scheduling conflict on her part, the rifle stayed on Team Oak Ridge's build table for all of Iron Modeler:
