here is a    p.s. to to this post.  while out and about today, i found a dremel lathe and drill press. with all fittings and tools.  the lathe even works.  all for $3.00....   check them garage sales

Agreed. Have yet to buy anything in that department though. Now in the scale cable, er… jewelry findings aisle… that’s another story.

No, michaels has a model section.  It isn't large and is mostly cars and some scifi kits but it's there.  Has more models then my LHS

Very cool, thanks for the info.  I could say the same thing about the plaques they sell in michaels.  They have some that are just thin strips of wood for really cheap then nice detailed small ones for like 50c

at hoby lobby, i found some u do it plaques,  they are in the clock section.  these can be used for display bases for all 1000 scale starship, scratch built ships.  they are 2 for $1.00.  just thought you should know.
