Built that too, of course. It's what I modifed to build the Reliant. It's just a handy kit for spare parts.

Now I'm on the Creature from the Black Lagoon, but soon I want to do an original ship.

What does the president of the United Federation of Planets ride in?

StarFleet ONE of course.  I'll kitbash a couple of things for it but all star trek models have to have those warp nacelles to fit the style.

Sorry, didn't see that post. I did build the AMT original Enterprise kit many years ago, probably the same age as your kit. That wasn't exactly brilliant but a fun build. It was re-released a while back in original box art, i must try and pick it up and re-build it.

Bish

What kit is this by the way.

See photo above.

The AMT Romulan re-pop. It's widely hailed as poor quality. inaccurate detailing and parts that don't fit well.

But it's a fun little ship

Thats really nice, and love the photos. And as long as you like what you build, thats the main thing. If otehrs like it, thats a bonus.

Thanks guys for the pats on the back.

I don't get a lot of kudos for my models. I'm not the most expert builder and I tend to mix things up a bit and most people don't like it much. And admitedly, not everything I do is good. Which is totally okay, I do it for my own entertainment.

I'm just in a phase where I've built them all as they should be, now I'm taking old stuff and trying to do something new and fresh with it. Like my star wars speeder bike done as nascar or doing the RELIANT seen in Star Trek TMP but in the style of the original show. And now dressing up the romulan ship with a fin from the Bat-Boat. It's all just a lot of fun.

 OctaneOrange:

with that title, i was expecting a Pontiac with nacelles!!

We's romulans da coolest on da block, yo!

HAHA! You have no idea how close I came to doing that Smoky & The Bandit paint job on it! I really seariously considered it. But that would have been over the top! haha

Yeah, when I first saw your post I wondered if it was about a bunch of Romulans stranded on 20th century Earth tooling around in a Pontiac....

Very cool! Love the subtle pre-shading of the feathers on the upper wing. And the Romulan writing as well not to mention of course the awesome flames!!! As Tory from Mythbusters says 'that everything is more awesome with flames on it!!!'

If I had a ship like that I'd never cloak- just intimidate everyone with my sheer bad@#@ness....

Those Romulans must be related to '50's hot rodders.

I don't see the scale on the box anywhere. but I believe conventional wisdom is that it's 1/650

14 inches wide / 8 inches long

I think that you did a very good job on the detail work. My son says, that he thought that it looked really cool. PLus I am interested in what scale your Bird of Prey is, and what Brand it is?

Khalee2

Very cool what kind of airbrush do you use?.

Thanks for the back-slaps. Appreciated.

The markings are a Romulan font I downloaded off a fansite. No, I didn't get an English/Romulan dictionary to translate. I just used that font and typed FIRE-BIRD in english.... {so a cheeted a little - sue me} :) The stripes are because the Federation ships all have red striping and the top of a Romulan ship is so plain...it needed some color.

The bottom, well the original is such a garish paint job to begin with. Romulan are like that.

I use an Aztec brand airbrush by Testers. Mostly 'cause it's easy to clean those easy-change-out nozzles.

Nice variation on the usual Romulan markings!

Do you think it would show through the cloak?

TOS Star Trek Romulan Bird of Prey is a favorite with that garish paint job.

This is just me tinkering around to add more detail to it. The next grade up in the Romulan Fleet. Also, an exercise to try and improve my air brushing skills.... or lack of them. Here's my web page to view the whole build

or just have a look at the pics below.

Hope you like it
