Mobius Flying Sub
Posted by kp80 on Sunday, July 17, 2011 4:33 PM

Here are some pics of the Mobius Flying Sub (the small scale one) I finished a little while back.  I'd like to build the larger scale version someday, but picked this one because it was a quick build, my display space is limited, and I am a fan of the show!  It brought back a lot of memories when I was a kid, when me and my brothers would do the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea "rock and roll" in the small alley between our bunk beds!

I painted the model with Testor's paints, then used some pastels to shade a few areas.  I added some N-scale model railroad figures I had in my parts box, repainting them in bright orange jumpsuits.

I also added a few N-scale figures to the red mini-sub.

Gotta build the Seaview someday, too.

I plan to put the Flying Sub, mini-sub and diving bell in a small diorama...any ideas are welcome!

Nicely done.

The smaller scale models are so much harder to get any detailing into. Well done.

I too have limited display space. I've a ton of larger models I want to build but won't have any place to put so I don't.

This one's nice. It came with the pilots or you added those?

I always thought that was a cool sub. Yes, it does bring back some memories.

Gerry,

Sorry I haven't checked for replies to my post for a while.

The pilots are N-scale model railroad figures I had lying around.  I simply painted them to have orange jumpsuits.  One of them is waving.  I thought about bending his arm down, but then said hey, why not let him wave and welcome everyone to his Flying Sub!
