Cylon Raider from TOS

Haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd share one I completed in the meantime. It's from the re-issued Revell (Monogram) kit. Modifications are essentially the lighting and using the kit supplied base to run power to a stand for controlling the guns and engines. Hope you enjoy.

MrSquid the build looks great and brings back memories.... Yes.  I don't hang in the SF area but the Cylon caught my eye since I've been watching the "new" series on Netflix.

Interesting since it was the NU-BSG which got me looking at  the "old kits". I must admit after building the kit I now really appreciate the design of this old craft. It was a lot of fun.

Thanks for the kind words.Big Smile

I don't hang here either, but the Cylon ship caught my eye and brought back some great memories.

The "re-release" (anniversary edition from a year or two back) comes with clear inserts for the engines which help but I guess you'd say the lighting is "scratched" It's two red LEDs per side in the back and then two green mini LEDs snuggled up into the modified gun bodies with stretched clear sprue to then transmit that out to the gun tips for better visibility. Power runs up through an aluminum tube bent to mimic and replace the rear brace of the kit stand and the model sets upon that with a mini-stereo jack so it can be removed when you wanna "fly it about the room"! And you know, we all do that!Propeller

I just finished watching 3 episodes in a row, it's addicting Embarrassed and the guy who plays the genius Dr. is just amazing! Big Smile  He surely won some award for that part.... of course, the woman who played his Cylon "friend" isn't too bad either.... acting or on the eyes.

I'd never watched one episode of either the original or new series until about two years ago a friend burned all the new series for me. Once I had them I just kinda sat and watched em all back-to-back absorbing the entire world of BSG that I had missed for so long? Then I bought a few episodes of the original and I guess without the rose colored lenses of nostalgia working for me, about all I could enjoy were the ship designs? But I'm glad to say I am better versed on BSG now than I was before.Geeked

Mr Squid: Fatastic looking build! I've got one of the reissued kits with the clear parts for the engines in the stash but this is the first time I've seen one lighted up.

Well done. Great build.
