"Konigs Neuspotter"

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum so thought Iwould post a couple of pics of my full scratch build of a fan design based on the Maschinen Kreiger genre.I used a lot of dollar store bits and pieces and detail greeblies from model kits, toys and such.It is based on a drawing I found on the net (credits  to the original artist here, wish I knew who it was.)

It is 1/20 scale and will be about 30" tall and 12" wide when finished.Hope you like it .

Cheers,

First the original sketch.

Started  the build with a 3" diameter plastic Xmas ornament and some 1/2" diam styrene  tube

The other spheres are made from plastic fishing floats.

The mid section is made from the base of a toy lantern, toy bubble gum machine and  sheet styrene.Tanks are made from, for the large one pill bottle and small ones from 1/2" styrene tube and acrylic hemispheres from the craft store as well as some tips from pens..

The antigrav unit on the rear is made from a game control holder, fishing floats and 1" diam abs plumbing pipe wrapped with wire insulation.

Rocket motors are made from plastic Easter eggs and bits and bobs.A 1/20 scale figure  is shown.for scale in the second picture.

The head is made from .040" styrene sheet, rigid insulation foam, coated with white glue(to protect the foam) and automotive bondo filler to make the basic shape.

The next pics are of the manipulator arms and a rather nasty arm equiped with a injection needle, some  laser cannons and antenna array made from a disposable lighter.

Poor Eddy, should never poke a Konigs Neuspotter with a stick!!!!Surprise

Superb Build !

Ah, the joy of fishing floats. Love 'em !

Have you checked out surplus centers for other goodies?

I go here for stuff, as well as the Sporting Goods shops:

http://www.sciplus.com/storedetail.cfm?store=2

Finding new uses for oddball stuff is why I love Sci-Fi so much.

Really great work on that project and a super example of how you designed and built it !

Thanks guys for the compliments and thanks Sprue-ce Goose for the link to that store, lots of cool stuff there.

This model has taken me almost 6 months of work so far with very few other projects going.on.Hope to finish soon as I have some smaller projects I want to do.

Cheers.
