Pegasus War of the Worlds Tripod 1/144

a bit pricey but it cries out for a diorama instead of that weenie round base.

Some N scale buildings and it should be quite impressive, or even the tank scene on the ridge..

too many diorama ideas, not enough space, not enough time.

I recently read the original (found a book that had that, Time Machine and Invisible Man) and it was better than I expected.  It's odd reading a work that you are familiar with through adaptations only.  A dio with some old timey cannon would look fantastic. You could even create swirling clouds of the poison smoke at the thing's feet.

Is this based on the Spielberg movie? I'm a huge fan of the George Pal film but I do kinda like the old school tripod idea. I'd love to do one with an old style 'steampunk' look if I ever get around to it.

I thought these would make an interesting kit when I saw the movie, but never expected anything unless it was resin.

So has anyone bought the kit and popped the lid?  I am interested in getting a better idea of what's in the box. I have seen sprue shots on line, but a firsthand peek by a fellow modeller would be most helpful.  The design looks pretty complex, so I was wondering how well the detail and fit were.  Starship Modeler has had them for at least a week or two, but so far the kit has not hit the local shops.

Can you picture that baby in 1/35th scale? A perfect dio would be of one arm grabbing Tom Cruise while one of the legs is stomping his whinning kids.

In the words of Willy Wonka...

"Strike that, reverse it."

Whining kids can change for the better.  Tom Cruise has shown no such tendencies.

I have one- at the moment it's in a library display.  ALL kits should fit as well as this!  Pegasus kits are amazingly engineered!  Part fit is so snug that the parts are hard to separate once test fitted and the seams are almost invisible!  This kit is printed from the actual movie files and it's all there!  You will not be disappointed!
