"Husker" decal for new BSG Viper?
Posted by Kugai on Monday, December 12, 2011 7:09 PM

I have 2 of the Viper MkII kits and had the idea of doing one in the usual "beat up" condition with gear up and the other looking factory-new to sit in a hangar.  I thought Adama's rebuilt bird from the beginning of the miniseries would be perfect for the latter, but the kit only has Starbuck and Apollo's nameplates available.  I looked up SSM and they don't seem to have anything for the "Husker" tag we see on the Viper in that scene.

Anyone out there know of other sources?

I know JT Graphics does a fairly comprehensive decal sheet for the Mk II that includes pilot names, but I do not know if it includes Adama's ship. You can always ask them: http://jt-graphics.com/

http://www.culttvmanshop.com/Space-Fighter-Mk-II-markings-decals-from-JTGraphics-_p_1375.html is the cheapest place to get the set though.

I'd use home made decals printed from your computer.

The only brand I've worked with has been Testers but they've worked well for me. Other brands might be just as good.

Thanks for the tips.

Gerry, the only catch with that is getting the graphics together for the printout.  While that's something I plan on being able to use for some projects eventually, it's not really feasible right now.

Those JT decals look like the right set.  About 10.00 for a sheet of decals when all I expect to use is 2 of them.

Does this fall into the "why do we do what we do" thread?

I did further research on that decal set and along with standard pilot names, the set includes names you can make yourself. So if Husker isn't included, you could make it.

The decal making set from Testors costs over $10 and might be a little bit of trial and error. I bought one to make my tank and HMMWV bumper markings, but have not used the set yet.
