I like your opinion and I think it would be up to you.  I like to think it's between the Kirk and movie era.

Neat, would that have been the (TV) Kirk era of the Trek universe, or somewhere in between the TV and Movies era. It has that really old Trek era look of the saucer section, but the nacelles could go either way IMO.

You should never take criticism from me serious. :D

SFB, I am a huge fan.  Wish I could find players these days.

Keep up the good work!

well thank you.  that was my second scratch build.  i used to play starfleet battles.  this is based on the larson class.  it was a easy build, but the cat got into my back room and wanted the shelf.  after repairs my ship won the shelf...

Ap me:

Thanks for bumping these back to the top, I hadn't seen some of them. All of them are cool but I think I like the USS Amhurst best.

Yeah, this forum is slow enough that I don't check in that often.

Love what you've done so far and would like to see more. And don't worry about the photo quality, I make things out just fine. I didn't even know anyone had done commercial models of the varoius ships from the 'Starfleet Design' series of manuals.

Yeah, FSM isnt big on the sci fi scene. But thats no reason to stop posting. Personally i would love to see a pic of your entire Star Fleet. It sounds impressive.

I really like it, ap.  Keep it coming!

Don't take the lack of responses personal.  Compared to the rest of this forum, SciFi is probably the least visited.  Somehow, I missed the posts to this thread since December.

Take care, and get that camera fixed, phew!!

Ok,  as I said I would,  here are some more pics of my build.  Basically the engines were out.  i decided that I liked the endeavor style engines.  I got these from Modular Models.  they sell all kinds of ready made 1000 scale parts to build your own starship classes (sorry not meant to be a commercial)    some paint on the first pic,  basically just gold on the inter-cooler.  then masked the blocks and spray black,  then masked again, then grey.   all from 12 oz  rattle cans... bon apetit!

Sorry about the cruddy pics,  had to use my original digi cam.  found my new and improved one and it is charging.  as it stands now the primary hull is sitting, waiting for paint.  the seams have been puttied and sanded.  i will get the paint  tomorrow after work.  then primer black and masking time.  will take a few shots of it.    My wife decided that she likes the endeavour style engines,  so if i want to model again,  i will install them.  SLL

Trek and 1:1000 scale, a perfect match. I'm looking forward to the pictures.

In the past, i have built about two dozen 1000 scale starships.  some from  standard plastic model companies , some as conversion kits from several companies.  In the past, because I did not have a camera or the kit was too far in the construction phase to take pictures of, I have just shown the completed ships.

Today I started a new ship.  This latest attempt at fame will be the new Kearsarge class light cruiser, from Starship Modeler kit factory.  I already decided that I didn't like the engines that were supplied with the kit,  so they are out. ( I have others)     I also decided the shuttlecraft supplied were a waste of my time, (since I can barely see them anyway),so they are out.    Other than that I have started my build.

About a year ago I built two perimeter action starships from starship modeler kit factory, one as a model kit, and as illustrated in the instructions,  the other as a scratch build.  At that time I used the top of the primary hull (saucer).  I had no intention of ever using the other pieces from the kit, other than an occasional engine or whatzit...  then I saw this ship online.  I noticed that it used only the bottom part of the saucer,  so  it pays to save those parts.

As of today, I have put the saucer together,  using ca glue.  I then sanded the top and bottom so they lost their seam.  I also installed the inpulse engine section, and applied seam putty.  when it is dry I will sand it smooth and by then I hope to have found my camera so you all can see it too.

Parts from the kit.

Upper Saucer and leftover lower saucer.

Impulse engine installed and filler strip installed.
