AT-TE of the Grand Republic; Veteran of the 41st Elite Corp
Posted by hummingbird on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 6:12 AM

The 41st Elite Corps was a legion of elite clones in the Grand Army of the Republic, composed of many variants of troopers, including AT-RT drivers, clone scout troopers and BARC troopers. Their legion color was alternately gray or marked with green camouflage. The 41st Elite was a division out of the 9th Assault Corps, under command of Senior Jedi General Luminara Unduli and Senior clone commander Gree.

This AT-TE has seen extensive battles and suffer massive damages from serving with the 41st Elite Corps under Commander Gree and Jedi Master Yoda on Kashyyyk. The left side of this AT-TE is more severally damaged as the dense forest of Kashyyyk is not as forgiving to the men and materials of the Republic as the other planets.

Now, that the Introduction is done, allow me to present to you, My custom coloured and Damaged AT-TE ...

Looks good. How did you like the kit?

They make some cool Star Wars stuff, but I usually avoid the pre-painted snap kits.

Did you strip the original paint or just go over it?

Oh. .. you did the right thing avoiding these revell kits ... apart from the 1/1200 Venetor  ( not the snap fit one) - all of these pre-painted kits sucks just soo much ...

The pegs won't fit ... so many flash ... joints done poorly and the plastic quality is just too rough and flimsy ...

I just primed the entire kit and just went over it

It's a shame such cool subjects are poor quality.Try the Fine Molds SW kits.Pricey but worth it.

I built two FM kits for friends. They are the best engineered kits I've ever built.Zero flash, perfect fit and super detailed.Definately worth a few extra bucks.

I agree Fine molds tops everything in plastic. I'd like to see them come out with some ground vehicles. Unfortunately seems Revel is the only way to go for now, at least in plastic. You did a great job on this kit, might be something for me to look into. I have Revel's Falcon kit. Molds seem pretty good, guess I'll see how it fits once I get to it. Did notice that it is smaller than the old AMT kits.  Once again I like how yours came out and the story line for it too.YesYes

Very nice build.

On the discussion you are having, I see it this way.  We are modelers... I'm sure if someone gave us a hunk of wood we could make SOMETHING out of it... Get the snap kits, sand, cut, glue, weld, dremel, airbrush, sculpt, putty... whatever you have to to make it presentable.

You did a great job on this. Revell have some great subjects, but i am a bit put by the pre coloured snap fix kits. They just make me think of a kiddys toy that won't look very realistic. Am i judgeing them to harsly, or would you recomend to avoid.

I will back the other on the FM kits. I have built one and have 3 more, and they are great kits.

Unless you plan to repaint them , rebuild them ( just as the AAT tank) Or add in some proper weathering, nope .... I will recommend to avoid them ...

I was thinking i would need to re-paint them. When you say rebuild them, do you mean take away the parts that make it a snap fix and then just build as normal. Clearly they can be made into nice kits. And as tehre nothing else for many of the subjects, i may just bite the bullet.
