I recently completed this 1/32 Mobius Battlestar Galactica Viper Mk VII, detailed to show Capt. Adama's Viper after the completion of the attack on the Cylon Tillium Refinery. This is my second completed kit and the first to use oil-based weathering and salt-chipping of the base color to show Alclad Airframe Aluminum primer coat. Weathering was a combination of burnt umber oil wash along airflow lines, and a weird technique of flash-freezing PollyScale Satin Clear with liquified airbrush propellant to simulate liquids flash freezing when exposed to vacuum rapidly. Exterior paint was Model Master Interior Blue Metallic along with Alclad lacquers (about 4 shades to depict stress and heat. I spruced up the interior with some leftover photoetch and scratchbuilt styrene. Anyway, enough with the description, here's some pics.I'll post some better quality ones when I get new camera next week. Comments, critiques ,and questions are highly accepted. I hope you enjoy.
That's a good lookin' Viper, but man, you gotta photograph it on a different background. That red is...wow.

Very very cool build.

As promised, here are done shots of my MkVII on a white background. Its shows the Model Master Interior Blue Metallic I selected a lot more closely to the true color. the instructions call for Pontiac Engine Blue but looking at stills of the series, this color looked closer. These also have much better contrast on the engine shading on the main thrusters.I still wish I would have taken a picture of the spruced-up cockpit before I sealerd it, but oh well :) Anyway, here they are:
Very cool! I have been watching the series at lunch as I missed it when it first came out. I watched the orginal one back in the 70's
You capture the look and feel of the new Viper just great!

I think the color you picked does match the ship as seen on the screen pretty well. Looks good, i dig the battle worn look to it.
great job but we need a better background...take some more pics after you get your new camera...how did you tint your cockpit canopy...let me know please...did you use photoetch in the cockpit...again very sharp!
From these pictures, it looks great. I'd like to see more in focus. The detailed weathering probably looks dynamite!
