One word Hasegawa that is all you will need.
Big Smile [:D]

They haven't released a gerwalk yet though, but their figher and robot mode Kits are superb.

Gerwalk mode you will have to go with the old Bandai and similar Kits or try to get hold of one of the high-end Resin Kits.

MMF ,

LOL I thought you'd show up , so the Hasegawa are the best ? is it a pretty clean model ? I'm kindda getting tired of building sloppy models , hince my forage into resin kits , still working on the AMT alien though , but only half heartedly now .

Yeah, in plastic kits the Hasewaga ones are the best hands down.

Same quality as their airplane models and just as detailed.

At the moment the BEST SF plastic models are:
1.) Hasegawa Macross Kits
2.) Fine Molds Star Wars Models.

In Resin the best Kits are Studio Halfeye, Yamato used them as prototypes for their fully transformable die-cast Models.

Hasegawa are ALL 1/72 scale.

Bandai had 1/144, 1/100 anf 1/72.

ALWAYS double check the prices and boxes with Hobby Link Japan, I have seen kits sell way ABOVE for what you can get them from japan directly.

I have 3 Online shops I would buy from, all are base in Japan.

1.) Hobby Link Japan: http://www.hlj.com
2.) Rainbow 10: http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/
3.) Aoshima/Hobby World: http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/eindex.asp

There are a few more shops I deal with, but they don't do international orders.

1.) Hobby Link Japan lists 95 Macross items, use the search function.
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?HSG10
Click on the Word "Macross" in the red bar to see what is available.
2.) 3rd link works fine for me just tested it.
3.) HLJ quotes 2.800 Yen as $26.55 that is for the VF-1A Super battroid.

Sorry, no other links. I only shop online for rare or kits made by local manufacturers the rest I buy in the HS.

Doug,

Have you been to www.macrossworld.com? Or how about www.hlj.com as a vendor?

When I first started to look for Macross models it wasn't to easy so went with Hobby Link Japan due to selection and availability. The shipping costs as much as the model though they are very quick in getting your order to you. The tracking is excellent though costs more. There is Toys-n-Joys but the models are expensive and shipping will bury your wallet. I ordered two things from them and received only one. Outer Limits is out of New Jersey and prices are good but limited selection. I have been searching the web for models and have found many photos of different paint schemes. I do know there is a game for Macross that is like Battletech so I believe these photos may have something to do with that. I'm new to Hasegawa but really like the quality of there models. Would like more detail in the cockpit but haven't figured out what airplane the cockpit is modeled after. Any info there?

pensive1968,

I have the drawings of the original design work for cockpits of the VF-1 Valkyries. They come form an art book of Macross. I'll scan them tonight and leave a post here that has links to the images.

I just got the Macross Zero kit of the SV-51 and that was about $36.00 with shipping. It's going to be hard to get cheaper than that (I think Hasegawa VF-1 kits went for less than $30.00 from HLJ).

Thank you for the cockpit info and the store in CT. I will look into it when I get there. As for the Macross Zero SV-51 I have only seen it on HLJ site so will go with them I think,

Right now on Ebay there are two models from Macross Plus.. the YF 19 and the YF 21 each selling for around $25.00. Just thought I would throw that in. Since Macross Plus is my favorite of the whole Macross Series.

Here are a couple of links to some images I scanned of artwork of the cockpits for Vf-1 Valkyries. They come from the 'Macross Perfect Memory' art book.
