This was the problem I read about on one of the kit reviews. From what I'm gathering, Ertl had a bad lot which bypasssed theri QC department (which I don't think actually exists) Might be a minority of defective kits out there. I didn;t purchase one yet. I have a gentleman who wants me to build one up for him. Perhaps I should have him check his kit for the deformities.

i have several ds9 kits, all of which have severe warping in the three sections of the outer rings.is this only in the kits i have is the question. i purchased all at three different times and in different states for that matter and all are warped.there are nany challenging seam problems, most natable are the seams down the center of the six towers.i wound up recreating the channel down each tower by using .80 strip plastic channeling.then i realized how warped the ring was and put it aside until i come up with a solution for that.

Rob you don't want to know the reaction I had at the sight of that DS9. Well at least there are just FINGERPRINTS on the screen.

Yep i too picked up my fibre optic DS9 at a toy liquidators for the cheap! Sadley I bought mine just so that i could get my hands on the expensive fibre optic material and the free fibre optic drill what comes with it. My intention was to just build the kit non lighted but intead it has ended up in the parts bin and is used for scratchbuilding and customizing fodder! Yest as well most trek kits it has it's share of flash! But most non-military kits do IMHO!LOL

Whoah ROB! I just noticed that Star Fury! Is that a psi-core fighter? I see the Omega sysmbol on it. I don't get to see as much Babylon 5 as i would like! That Fury RULES!

I have both the original and fiber optic version, but I have only built the original one. The parts have a lot of seam clean up. A lot. I picked up the fiber optic one at a toy liquidators for under $10.

A few months ago I saw an awesome fiber optic one at a show. Really well done.

Hi all,

I'm contemplating diving into a DS9 kit - regular or fiberoptic, and wanted to know a few things about it:

1. How well do the parts fit ?
2. How easy is it to light up using multiple LED's ?
3. Any experiences in airbrushing the kit. ?
4. Is the kit chock full of hassel ?

[did a search on this but didn't come up with very much at all except for some pictures]

Thanks in advance

Jack
