Give Pegasus a hand for doing that !

Cool! A guy in our club had a beat-up kit of the flying HK a few years back he'd got off Ebay. According to him a company called Halcyon I think did one and it's been out-of-production for years and very hard to find. Wonder if this is the same kit or a retooled version? Still in any case it's very cool to see it back out again!!!

The Halcyon kit was vinyl and a lot bigger than the Pegasus kit, even though its stated scale was also 1/35.  I had the thing back in the day but gave it to a friend because it was just too crude for my taste.

It sure will be nice to have a plastic version of the flying HK.  I look forward to the tank as well.  It's great that the model is in standard military scale, as it will allow some pretty cool dioramas.

Looks like the (after)market is ready for some 1/35 T-800 endoskeletons.

Halcyon did some limited run SF stuff in the late 80s/early 90s. I rememeber them doing the Sulacco, M577 APC, and UD-4L Drop Ship. Their stuff was limited run and a bit pricey. I am hoping that Pegasus keeps with their formula of more mainstream design and pricing. If they did do the Flying HK, that is a good sign that perhaps other Cameron Sci Fi stuff may not be a pipedream in more mainstream injection plastic....

Pegasus definitely deserves a big nod for these HKs.... I have not beent his excited about an upcoming release of ANY kit in years!!!!

Yeah, a new tool drop ship, with an interior payload bay and in-scale APC would rock!  Some guys want it in 1/35, but the Halcyon kit was pretty big even in 1/72.  I think a Sulaco is coming out, and it supposedly is a new tool, not a reissue.  A plastic Nostromo would also be hugely cool!

Pegasus kits are not cheap, IMHO, but they deliver the subject matter and are well engineered.  I just picked up the Nautilus, and was very pleased with it.  I really hope they do well and continue to churn out the kits.

Getting back to the HK, everyone start stocking up on Alclad chrome!

Yes I have seen many Pegasus kits. I really want to get their 50's War of the Worlds Martian War Machine kit. I was thinking Humbrol Metalcote or MM Metalizer Stainless Steel for the HK... Chrome looks too shiny for the movie stuff...

Yup some 1/35 Aliens and Avatar stuff from Pegasus would definitely be most welcome as well...

Real G: Thanks, yeah the Halcyon was big but I wasn't really impressed by the detail.

I've got a few of the Pegasus 'The War of the Worlds' George Pal movie kits too and yes they're really nicely done.

I also have one of the Pegasus George Pal WoW Martian war machines, and I was initially unimpressed by the thick parts and simple breakdown.  But I slowly appreciated the genius of the kit and realized that Pegasus was putting out good product.  I guess I'm spoiled by tidy Japanese packaging from the likes of Fine Molds, Bandai, etc.  I have no such prejudices now, after seeing their latest kits.

Now if Pegasus did stuff from Avatar, that would totally rock!\

But first, let's see those HKs! 

BTW, does anyone have an estimated release date?

I love the Pegasus kits. True they do not have as many kit parts as other companies but I have found they do a much better job than any other kit maker of engineering the parts to reduce/eliminate seam work! A huge plus in my book.  I also don't find their prices that much out of line with other producers.

Now, if they would only produce my holy trinity of spaceship kits. Valley Forge, Discovery, and Cygnus.

Yeah, Pegasus is htting the Sci Fi film genre pretty wide recently. I love it. It' never too late OO. After all the George Pal WOTW Martian War machines are nearly 40 years older than the T2 HKs.

Mits, I do like their engineering as well. I have not seem to much of their Sci Fi stuff in person, but their aircraft kits are very nice for what they are designed to do. lets see now about your trinity... Valley Forge/Silent Running, Cygnus/Black Hole, but I dont recall Discovery off the top of my head. Was it the other ship in Black Hole?

SP: The other ship in 'The Black Hole' was the Palomino, I think Mits is referring to the Discovery from 2001.

I don't think anyone has ever done a model of the Palomino but she's a kinda dull, unattractive ship (IMHO). I'd love to see a reissue of the Cygnus - though I'd think you'd almost have to do the whole ship in PE to get her to look right.

There have been a couple of resin kits of Discovery but I don't think injection molded. Has anyone ever done a model of the Leonov from 2010?

I'd love to see a plastic Discovery, but doesn't Moebius have the rights, as they did a new tool Orion?  I had read on other forums that getting a license to 2001 properties is a nightmare.  But if Pegasus could do a Discovery and space pod, I'd be really happy.

But our cup runneth over in the 21st century, so I'll be content building all the stuff I already have while waiting for the next kit announcement.

The old vinyl flying Hunter Killer kit was done by Horizon, not Halcyon. Pegasus will be releasing the flying Hunter Killer, the Hunter Killer tank and a pack of 1/35 Endoskeletons separately.

Round 2 is doing the Sulaco and a resin Kane figure. Hopefully we will see more new kits from the ALIEN franchise from R2

No, the Round 2 stuff is new news to me ;-) Thanks for the heads up! The Sulaco sounds very cool to me!

The Sulaco will be a 1/1000 plastic kit. It was announced at Wonderfest last May.

Science Fiction subject plastic kits in 1/35-1/32 is very desirable

No cockpit - it is a pure robot!

Kit length is around 8 to 9 inches.  Which is strange, as the horizon vinyl kit was also ostensibly 1/35 scale, but it was 16" or so long.  Even though there are no hard scale references in T1 and T2, I always perceived the flying HK to be large.

Regardless, I am also eagerly awaiting this kit.  Got my Alcald ready.

Is the kit out for general release in the US?  Or did some shops like MiM get the jump?  Just curious, as I need to know when to start bugging my LHS.

Pegasus Hobbies, who makes these kits, is based here in the Los Angeles area. The two shops that have them now, MiM and Brookhurst are both local as well. I suspect that the other side of the country will be getting these kits within the next few weeks, working eastwards. But that is just a guess on my part.

I saw one last night at out IPMS Capter meeting "show and tell".  one of the memebers went to Pegasus Hobbies and bought it during the week. It really is a very nice kit in person. Later this year or early next year Pegasus will be releasing a chrome plated version for those who do not want to paint it themselves.

I was able to look one over in the box last Sunday at Burbank's House of Hobbies. The detail is great, especially on the engines... A bit surprising is how small it is, as I expected a larger craft in 1/32nd scale. Definitely worth picking up!

Glad to hear that we are going to see an HK tank in 35th and a separate pack of  Terminators in-scale --- now we just need an accompanying set of human infantry to duke it out in a dio!! Can even convert the Meng pick-up into a post-apocalypitc technical to go along!

Off topic, also got a look at the Batman Tumbler in the box --- MAN, that little box is PACKED with sprues!!! Lots of detail to work on and definitely not a shake and bake quickie build!

Both of these kits are on my list to pick up (after I get my Meng D9R bulldozer, of course!!

Great times for modelers --- far too many great choices!!
