I had ago at hand painting him, however the finish isn't perfect. I did a couple undercoats in GW shining gold and then five coats of clear red, could probably do with another. But all in all it looks good on the shelf.

I modified my Mk III to match a scene in the first movie. The battle in Gulmira.

I planed to paint my Iron Man Mk III from the instructions, But it didn't look like a finished paint job in the first movie.

I started with a base cote of Aluminum http://flic.kr/p/7LA7Wh  But instead of using clear red I used Model Master Acrylic # 4633 Stop Light Red.

I remember a line in the movie when Tony wanted a "Hot Rod Red" I think I found the closest thing to it http://flic.kr/p/7MQkCy

I added a little black to barley darken it to match the Armor shade in the movie.

I used Gold Metallic and covered areas with Clear Red.

Worked for me, the red took on the metallic look I wanted.

Iron Man Colour paints

Hello, I've just built the Iron Man model and the Revell painting instructions tell me to use a mixture of clear red, silver and clear. Which I've done, however after priming the model in white, when I apply the mixture I get a very transparent pink. Even the clear red on its own is very light in colour and would probably need about 15 to 20 coats to make it look half decent. I tried a more solid acrylic primary red, however it isn't not quite right, and definitely not shiny or metallic looking.

I can not find any clear instructions on the web on how to paint my iron man, I've re-sprayed him white again, and I'm now hoping for someone to tell me what I should be doing.

Thank you.
