Besides the Moebius Galactica, I am also working on the old series Base Star, Raider and Colonial Viper. (I hope to score an old series Galactica sometime.) Here is a video of the work I have been doing on the Viper. The pilot head was cast in clear (from the one that came in the kit) painted flat white for reflection and given many coats of flat black. Then it was covered in beige for the skin and flat light aircraft gray. All of which are purchasable at any hobby shop.
LED's were all purchased at Radio Shack. The pilot head has a hole drilled into the bottom and the LED sits on top of the body. 1/16" (?) or so holes are drilled into the body and come out through the back. Use of Fiber optics help with lighted buttons and indicators in the front. 3mm red and blue make for indicator screens on the side. 5mm green is used for the DRADUS display screen.
One detail unique to the pilot figure is some sort of device that rests on his leg. 1mm fiber optic strands have been drilled through the figures leg and device. A red blinking LED and a green stationary LED create the look of a working device. It is not currently hooked up for this video.
The cockpit was given two white lights for console lighting fashioned to behave as general cockpit/console/desk type lighting.
The video doesn't pick up much of the flicker on the thrusters, but hopefully you can see a little bit of that process. There is still much detailing to go, and the two halves of the viper have not yet been cemented permanently just yet.
Hope you enjoy!
(Somehow the video inserter was crapping out, so here is the photobucket info. I just hate it when this happens.......)
