seaQuest DSV BUILD
Posted by Tentacles on Saturday, October 5, 2013 3:44 AM

Well, I like to post some pictures of the seaQuest herself. This is a totally hand painted model (no airbrushing or masks!) with custom mixed greens and painted on windows. In order to get crisp patterns, the hull was painstakingly painted one section at a time, since I'm a glutton for punishment. Some very minor scratchbuilding was used on hull details not evident on the original molding. I had built this way back in 1996 before DVD's and such were available for reference material so I based the coloring on what I saw at the end of the first season and the beginning of the second season. A very simple model to build, the devil was in the details. Makes a great companion to my other seaQuest kits.

That is an amazing paint job. I remember basically painting mine flat dark blue and drybrushing the textured regions. It looked really crappy. Yours looks great.

Thank you! I had to lay off the coffee- could not have done it with a shakey hand. As for the patience part , I was determined that I would pull it off. I really took my time and was not in any rush of any kind. Plenty of cross-eyed moments though ! LOL
