I got hold of the Fine Molds Darth TIE today, got it from E-bay at a pretty good price. The guys is also hoping to get some of the Fine Molds 72nd Slave I's in march, going to pick one of those up as well.
And for anyone who is interested, i was checking Starship modeller today and they have some 72nd resin TIE Bomber's in.

Theres only 2 left at the moment, i saw it and couldn't resist, you never know when they will be back in. They also have some neat looking little bases. I ordered an Imperial one.

I think i will put the TIE iN i built a while back on it, and if i like it, will get some for my un built kits. They have these bases for other movie models as well.

flavor 2.0, ummm, in no way did you go "overboard" on your weathering of Slave 1. It is spot on. In fact, that's the best Slave 1 I've ever seen! I have mine that I built back in '83 torn apart and waiting to be rebuilt. It's getting a similar weathering job to yours, I hope.

NucMedTechRon, my apologies for the name error, but I still agree about the constant size. For people that are looking starship modeler has or had resin tie bombers in 1/72 scale.
Ah ha, real funny. Rob, not Ron.
I've been hesitant to buy resin garage conversions. The last one I did was the Fourth Axis TIE Crawler tank for the old MPC/AMT/Ertl TIE Interceptor. It came out well but was a lot of work. It was a fun conversion though.
Ah yeah! Star Wars rules. Love the Falcon. Good weathering on all of them.

flaver, ye, I have bought from them before, I got the Prode Droid from there. I have found Slave 1 and darths TIE on Amazon shipped from japan, but I think I might end up getting them from Starship.
Yes, it is a nice job on the Slave One. I own both versions, but have yet to build either one. I bought the Jenga Fett one on a modeling forum for $40 and then someone from my local IPMS club found out that Target.com was selling the Fine Molds kits at clearance prices in their Japanese Collectibles category. I ended up buying the Boba Fett one that came with the white metal frozen Han Solo for something like $30-35.
I did a search for the Fine Molds Vadar kit, I get the feeling its a new release. Seeing as I have the TIE, TIE In, X and Y wings from Fine Molds, I think I would go for their Vadar kit as well. Their kits are not easy to get hold of in the UK, but I will have a look around. I think while I am at it, I might get their Slave 1 kit as well, I built the AMT kit years ago as well, but I rather like the Fine Molds kits. I have decided to go for a mix of large AMT kits and smaller but better detailed Fine Molds, best of both worlds.
flaver, that's a nice looking build. As for the weathering, I like it.
Apart from the TIE In, I don't have any pics of my Star Wars builds. Most of them were built 15/20 years ago. But even though most have survived, I have been on a missions to do them again, only this time hopefully better. Seeing your builds here, I really want to find the time to get some done.
Bish I didn't know Fine Molds had done Vadars TIE. I do like the MPM because of the size, but it would be nice to add a more detailed one as well, I will have to have a look for those, thanks Rob Are the Revell ones both snap tight kits.

I've built several of the smaller ones called "pocket kits". I was extremely impressed with the level of detail and fit. I found them in bargain closeout stores for $4.99. They come in small foil bags and are close to 1/72 scale but slightly smaller. Not enough to notice when next to an X-Wing but smaller than my 1/72 scale Fine Molds TIE fighters.

The Fine Molds kit is superb and is stated as 1/72 scale. A more involved model, it runs around $20 plus shipping. http://www.hlj.com/product/FNMSW-16/Sci
The larger Revell kit is closer to 1/48 scale and the original MPC kit is somewhere between 1/32 and 1/35 scale.
Here is the Slave 1. I didn't think it was 1/72 scale as it's so large, I figured that it would be about half the size, but I guess it's about as big as the Falcon at scale. I think I went a bit overboard with the weathering...
NucMedTechVery nice collection you have there. I've been slowly building up one too. I just need to start building them now. I agree with Gino, I like having a constant scale.
I'm not Gino. Never could figure out why people would mistake me for him especially when I use my real name as my username.
Bish I built Vader's TIE years ago, I still have it but its not the best of builds, so I manage to get another one last year and this time I can do it justice. But I would love to get a TIE bomber, I believe there use to be a conversion, but not sure if its still around.

The newer Vader TIE's by both Revell (two different scales) and Fine Molds (1/72) are superb kits that are leaps and bounds beyond the old MPC/AMT/Ertl one that arrived around 1977. They are not as big, but the quality of any of them is better.
Ohhhhh awesome, love the big Falcon!

Flaver! Great builds! I love anything SW, and you have done them justice with those! The detailing is great! Thanks for sharing and don't stop posting those great kits you're building!

Absolutely lovely renditions! I, too, have a bit of a "fetish" for Finemolds kits. Once you've done one, you must do another.
Please, keep up the great work.

The hardest part of flying isn't flying...it's landing.
Tell me about it. For some reason the legs are way to close together. I am going to try soaking in hot water to see if I can correct it. I have been looking for the 1/4 Boba Fett and Stormtooper, but no luck so far.
Lovely looking builds. I have a few of those Fine Molds kits and they are great builds, don't have the falcon yet though, a bit pricey. Great work on C3-P0 as well. Those Screamin kist are really hard to find, I ended up with a poor copy of the 1/4 Darth Vader figure.
Very nice with the Fine Molds kits. I find the main benefit, other than the obvious quality, to be the constant scale of 1/72. With MPC/AMT/Ertl and Revell kits, their use of scale is all over the place.
