I've seen scratch builds and toys but not a kit. Google is your friend!

There used to be a garage kit of an assimulator cube. It wasn't very big though, maybe the size of an orange. I agree you'd probably be better off scratchbuilding one.

Okay cool deal. Yeah I just Googled it, I have to say there is not much that I would use.  I have recently started building the Enterprise, and it was only about 8 inches long. Doing the math right, the cube would have to be roughly about 38 inches cubed.  That is something that I will have to wait on building until I get good at building. Heck I am having trouble with just the decals on the model now… but I have to admit, even with the struggle, I did enjoy trying.

I think the thread Rob posted here is probably the right way to go about this although I'd probably cut the sprues apart instead of cementing the whole thing on there - though the 'Made In Korea' label on one of them gave me a chuckle.

I'm assuming just cementing a bunch of model parts to a large box was how the one from the series was made.

One other thing I'd toss is if you're not working toward some constant scale you might find some of the small starship models (1/2500) scale etc or wargaming miniatures to use. Building a cube to match a 2 -3 inch long Enterprise seems like a lot less work for me!

I was just wondering if anyone has ever built a Borg cube? Is there a kit for that or has anyone built one from scratch?  This is something that I might one day try since I am new at this, but wanted to see if anyone else has tried.

As far a size goes, I think a lot would depend on the size of the raw material (i.e. old sprues) that you use. I've seen those clear photo cubes at places like Walmart and craft stores that would look like a good starting point for a fairly small (6 inch square) Borg cube, but to be honest, the size would depend on how much work you want to put into the project.

I have been saving sprue for projects and the Borg Cube would be an ideal use for most of those sprues.

Though attempting to duplicate stills of the studio prop might be one way to make a Borg Cube, I intend to randomly add detail inspired by a photo of a cube.

I've tried copying details on Sci-Fi kits during my early model building years but found it too time consuming.

In any case, it would seem logical that no two cubes would be identical as the Borg technology is "borrowed " from assimilated societies.

That is some great photos of the borg cube! This will be some thing that I will take the time with and see what parts i can acquire over time...

I'd build one if it came with a large, detailed figure of "Seven of Nine!"  :-)

I thought about something similar. In container/kitchen/gadget specialty stores I've seen plexiglass/acrylic storage cubes that come in a variety of sizes. These are the ones where there is a lid that comes off or the two sides slide together. A saw a 12x12 cube at a store in Vegas a few years ago that I thought would be a perfect size. Wouldn't fit into luggage and didn't want to risk it being rejected as a carry-on.
