Goodday.... any Doctor Who fans out there. I always wanted to try building a TARDIS and, so, I had this clear plastic display case that I was looking at one day and thought: `That would make a good base for a TARDIS`. Anyway, here it is in 8 x 4 x 4 (approx 1:16ish scale if I had to guess):
Materials list:
Wood - coffee stir stix
Window framing - adhesive address label paper cut into thin strips
Light: outer clear case was a clear pen cap cut into a barrell, inner light, tip of a Bic pen, painted blue inside
Markings and Signs: Laser printed from images found on internet.
Handles and hinges: brass rod

Now that's something you don't see often. Great looking build, awesome work.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
thanks Bish, it was fun
Question is, can we all get in it.
It's bigger on the inside!!! I glued the doors shut, so, i can't show you!!
I'll believe you. Just don't let it vanish off into space and time. Unless its going to come back with next weeks lottery results that is.
Years ago I bought most of the wood and paint to make a studio size Tardis in which to store garden and pool tools/supplies. I stalled out trying to track down some of the hardware, like the light on top, but never found anything for a decent price. Since then I've lost interest. I also don't remember where I put the plans. That was two hard drive crashes ago.
hmmm...life size...maybe someday?
I love that idea as a Garden Shed, great looking model.
ALL OF YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!
Rob, that's awesome! I'd thought about scratch-building one since it's of course is just a wooden box but never got around to it. Beautiful work there!

thanks Gam, it was a fun diversion. I plan on doing another one with a different roof.
Awesome job! Surely someone willing to build a TARDIS from scratch is counting the days till the 12th Doctor's appearance/performance in August?

Rob, really exceptional work. You've done the series a great honor. Fantastic creativity, as well. So, who is your favorite doctor. Number one for me is Peter Davison ('81-'84) and a close second is David Tennant ('05-'10). Barrett
I`m a solid Matt Smith fan!! For sure. I will admit, after the stellar performance of David Tennant, who could compare?? Well, at first, it was too strange of a difference between the two, then, wham!! Matt Smith took off and never looked back. He blew me away!! Now, can Peter Capaldi capture our attention like the last two did? Oh, and we can`t forget to tip a not to Christopher Eccleston as the `saviour`of the series because without him and Billie, we wouldn`t be having this conversation!!
Yes, Eccleston and Piper definitely did great work. It's been quite a series. What other program can regularly kill off its lead actor and keep its audience?! Hats off to the writers, as well.
Yup, stellar writing for sure...let's go next season!!
23 August 14!! Can't wait!!
That is OUTSTANDING, Rob!
I only got hooked on Dr Who within the past yr, seeing this brightened my day. A truly pleasant surprise.
Thanks Greg...I too only really got into the series about a year ago as well!
Excellent! Looks a helluva lot better than the plastic toy ones they sell in bookstores.
Bill.
On the bench: Lindberg 1/32 scale 1934 Ford Coupe and a few rescue projects.
In queue: Tamiya 1/35 Quad Tractor or a scratch build project.
I think its pretty much true that ones favorite Doctor tends to be whoever its is when one first starts watching the show.

Probably so, to me Tom Baker is to Who what Sean Connery was to Bond. Big fan of William Hartel and Peter Davidson too. The other original Doctors were pretty good but they were my favorites. The new show is good but somehow to me it seems to be so slick and polished it lacks a little of the goofy fun the original had - your mileage may vary!

True statement for me too, "my Doctor" is Tom Baker, used to watch it on the PBS channel when I was a lot younger. Whereas my wife would not have given the older series a chance the newer version is so well written that I have converted the wife to a Whovian too. Her Doctor being David Tennant, and that being the case it took her a couple episodes to warm to Matt Smith.
Yup, my earliest memory is of Tom Baker as well. We only had two channels of TV growing up and we didn`t get PBS, so, I only got to see it during summer vacations at gramma`s house. The 2005 series is really where it truly took off for me.
Dang! Someone beat me to the "size" reference! Nice bit of scratch there. Bob
I saw a license plate holder yesterday, said "My other car is a Tardis".
