Yes, I've built that version with my son, same kit as the original 1984 one, the color of the plastic is just a little different and the company (MPC vs. AMT) is different.

Here's an eBay auction for a Level 2 that says it requires glue and paint. (Sorry for the link; I'm writing from my phone and can't get the add photo button to work.)

There's only one version, the original MPC kit from 1984. It was snap and had legs designed to not bend at the knees or otherwise move. I built it in 84 and a few times since then. Glue wasn't required but it did make it a better fitting kit.

There was also a "Structors" version that used a windup clock with key. It walked and the twin cannons recoiled as it walked. It was more of a toy to assemble than a model kit

I have not built one yet, I do have the 92 boxing in the stash though. But my understanding is that they are all the same kit, just different box's and some include a poster. Which kit have you seen that says Level 2.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Star Wars AT-ST snap vs glue?

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it. According to some sources, all the versions of the AMT/MPC/Ertl AT-ST are just reboxes of the original snap kit. And it's supposed to be pretty shoddy. But some of the ones I see are Level 2 (i.e. glue required). Has anyone here done both? What are the differences between the two kits? Is the glue one any better?
