1/32 Moebius Cylon Raider COMPLETED
Posted by Rob S. on Monday, July 7, 2014 1:11 PM

This Raider was done as part of the Hard Science Sci-Fi GB. It was done over the span of about a month and was done with Tamiya Color, Vallejo acrylics, artist oils, Future, and enamel Dull coat. The logo on the base was recycled from the box art. For those who don't know this kit, it is gigantic, a full 18" across. It completely dwarfs the same scale Colonial Viper.

It was a fun build, but, now, I have no idea where it'll find a place to rest!! Embarrassed

Awesome exterior finish, Rob.

Having just attempted my first preshade try yesterday (on a WWII bird), I simply sit here scratching my head. (mine didn't turn out so hot).

Tip of the hat to you.

Beautiful build and paint job, Rob. I really like the choice of color. Do you mind if I ask which color(s) you used for the base coat?

Hey Chris, I just used Tamiya Medium Grey as the base, applied a black pre-shade and then started working each panel with Tamiya Sky Grey and light Sea Grey for raised details and random places on the superstructure.

Here's an idea of scale against the same scale Viper:

Very nice build! Love the pre-shade. I need to get the Viper now. I'm keeping mine in my office at work! I have more shelf space there.

Very well done and the weathering and shading looks top notch. I have one in the stash and working on the Viper now and lighting it.

Outstanding model, Rob!  I built a Viper and a Cylon raider, but they were about equal sizes. I think they were made by Revell.  I like the Moebius version of a bigger raider!
