1/2500th Federation Ambassador-class (unnamed)

Seems I'm on a posting binge today, getting caught up with my recent builds.

This model started as the 1/2500th scale USS Enterprise-C, which I decided to have fun with. These scaled kits are actually meant to be Snap-fit, but don't snap-fit very well, so I treat them as any other model. They also come with full decals for the entire vessel, but they are a little over-thick and just too much, so I've been using them as test-bed for painting practice. I've attempted to replicate the paneled appearance of Starfleet vessels, but aged from exposure to the sun (since I meant this kit to portray a vessel left in a boneyard--like that one TNG episode).

Painting process:

Looks kinda like a modern art piece, eh?

One quick coat of Lt. Grey paint later (and a lite black wash):

finishing construction:

Final Painting process:

Final pictures in the next post.

OK final pictures:

Close up of the saucer:

and the upper Aft view of the Secondary hull:

And the underside of the Secondary hull:

a better view of the Deflector dish;

a final side view of the vessel:

Again, I meant this to be a derelict, stripped of its name and left to drift, exposed to the solar radiation for years. I think I did a good job and came close to what I wanted.

I honestly do not like that pictures never fully do justice to how it looks in real life.

Thanks for looking, Comments and Criticisms welcomed.

Ohhhhhhhh very cool! I'll admit you had me wondering 'what the heck' in the first two photos but she came out great! Love the blacked registration name and numbers.

Thanks for the comment, Gamera.

I like these kits for the good quality at cheap cost and size, but since the world has enough "Enterprise"s, I am always trying to find a new identity for these ships. This was my "lazy" one. The only hard part was painting it.

Thanks for looking

P.S.

I was originally going to mark it as a 'pirate ship' I.e. That it had been dry- docked and then stolen by pirates, and gave the ship some "add-ons" to reflect that, but couldn't figure out good name and emblem, so I just blacked out the name and registry and called it done.

At that size of lettering, I would see them stripping the paint from the hull letters instead of painting over the hull. I like the idea of the ship being "repurposed" by pirates or adventurers.
