I do agree about the armada in DS9. It was one of the few times I really enjoyed watching that series. I also enjoyed the battle at Wolf359 on STNG. The aftermath wasn't pretty though.

I remember whenever they would show abther Fed ship in the original series and it would look exactly like the Enterprise. According to Mister Scott's guide to the Enterprise, they weren't all the same.

Sorry, bad trekkie...going back to reading now.

What I liked about the Ent-D was that is did look non-militaristic at first, but I don't know about anyone else, but I thought the Galaxy fit right in the armada scenes from DS9. And like Martian said.. it really kicked butt.

Those Armada scenes will always be my favorite. Granted the scaling is way off and other oddities. But still, seeing a fleet like that was pretty cool and a modeler's delight.

I still prefer the Constitution class starship to any other design. For the longest time, I didn't watch STNG because of the how the ship looked.

I doubt it, Robert. If you saw the show, the diagram had a "flowing light" effect going like the system status screens for the warp drive on the Ent. D. Also, there were no other ships depicted or displayed in the room, so the "family portraits" thing seems unlikely IMHO.

Here's a possibility. The schematic on the wall may not of been the Enterprise NCC 1701 J. Here's why. Sometimes there are photos or models of past ships on the walls. Sisko had a Dadelus model and Picard had a Star Gazer model in their offices. The Enterprise D conference room has scupltures of all past Federation Enterprises. Archer has drawings of the Space Shuttle and Aircraft Carrier Enterprises in his office. For all we know this schematic could be the G, H, or I. What do you think?

The J seems to be a devolved version of the D. The D having a horizonally eliptical saucer section and then the E as well as other ships having "lengthwise" eliptical saucers (version E and the Intrepid class.)

I wonder if they skipped the "i". It would have been the first starship with translucent, multicolored shells. The iPrise; it would be the 5th generation ship after the D. It would be a G5...... Tongue [:P]

Yes i know about the purpose of the design reflects. When i say Noah's Ark in Space i don't mean because of all the civilians on board, but because it litterally looks like an Ark. Big round and bulky!lol But it did have an organic quality that i like in its design that gave it both mass and grace. Also a ten torpedo spread from a single torpedo tube works for me!

I like sleek nacels though I also like Voyagers and the Defiants for their uniqueness as well. But anyway I agree with you about what the ship represents as opposed to what it looks like. With that aside one would still want an aestheticly pleasing vessel to flagship the fleet (and not to mention a TV show Big Smile [:D]). i thought the "D" was an ugly vessel when I first saw it and felt it looked like Noah's Ark in Apace. But It grew on me and in the end it kicked butt.Big Smile [:D]

The design of the D was to be very non-militaristic. Roddenberry wanted the viewer's to get the sense that space was a calmer place in Picard's day. As for the family thing It had to do with long term peace missions. Modern military families are usually kept together in peacetime. So concessions were made. Try reading the Reeves-stevens? book "The Continuing Mission"? (sad, I'm reading it now again and can't recall the title exactly). It is the 10th anniversery reflection for NG and deals a lot with the creative planning stages, even including memos and early sketches.

No problem Lee. I laughed.
You're welcome for the pics guys.
MGM The engines for the D had Bussard collectors on them that increased size. That may have changed on the later models. I've never thought of the Entrprise in term of the ship itself. It was always more about what it represented and the people aboard,

Thanks for the pics! Cool. Sleek design but I'm not very fond of it. Reminds me too much of the Enterprise D which wasn't really one of my favorite designs. it would make a great star fleet ship but it just doesn't say "Enterprise" for me. The relatively smaller engines indicate a much more efficient engine design.Shy [8)]

I can see a family resemblence. I think it is the nacelles being fairly close to the same plane as the saucer.
I'll take that as a complement. It isn't like the pics were hard to find. one is Star trek . com and the other is the result of running "star trek" and "enterprise-j" through and engine.

Big Smile [:D]Kisses [:X]Angel [angel]Bow [bow] Cassibill, I love you, will you marry me? LOL. Thanks! I really appreciate it. Interesting design. I don't see any similarities to NX-01 tho.

This scene takes place in the future. The Time Travelling Federation officer, Daniels, brought 400 years into the future to show him why he needed to try and make peace with the Xindi.

It didn't look very futuristic. Kind of a bigger NX-01.

So now they're up to "J". We didn't get a very good glimpse of it on the monitor, just enough to tease us. Anyone making a kit of that would have to use a LOT of poetic license!

Don't know but I am curious. Did you get a look at the starship outside the window? The one that was destroyed. Hmmm maybe they'll publish the schematics for it in the Communicator.

Enterprise-J ?!?!

Did anyone else here catch the 3/3 episode of Star Trek: Enterprise? At one point you can catch a glimpse of the Enterprise 1701-J in a schematic on the monitor!

I wonder if any fanboy GK makers will make a kit?
