need help creating custom models

hello im looking to create a custom model out of a star trek romulan bird of prey i thought id start off with a micro machines version as a test bed before modding my actual revel model. so my question is what would i use for a filler? so what i want to do is remove the lower part of the secondary full and add a filler up to the bottom of the nacells what do i use for this if u have any questions ask away i can prove pix if needed

I think the si-fi forum would be another place to ask this- more folks there might be familiar with the kit you are talking about.

although you've been shunted to the sci-fi forum, there's one called 'scratch building', which the same techniques apply.

I use an auto body filler. it's a two-part 50-1 putty to catalyst. once set, it's sandable, drillable.

you could also try a one-part filler, like squadron green and white.

for making body parts, like hulls, i use flat styrene sheets from evergreen.

I did a similar thing when I modified an Enterprise model. I used expanding foam insulation. It's cheep at any Home Depot. Squirt some in and use a razor to level it off or sculpt it. The I used plastic sheets from the hobby shop to close it off. Here's a link to my build page

Cutting blade on a dremal shouldll work to remove the lower part.
