Star Trek TOS com panel

I got this from Ebay a few years ago and have been working on in between projects for a while.

It is a simple resin kit with basically just 4 pieces. The front, back, grill, and light lens.

Mine did not have the lens so I made one from a section of the clear blister of a set of a micro brush

package.

The back section was about 1/8 inch to wide so I had to cut it down. I still have a ways to go, but it

is starting to look good.

I patched the gap in the back with Bondo, and filled all the gaps. Then I realized it was supposed to have a

gap along the edges. I had to re cut it with a razor saw.

A few coats of primer and here is where I am now.

Cool!  I wonder if you insert a house intercom, or the hands-free option on a telephone.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool!

Neat find there!

What  a brilliant {and different} project.   It would be great if you wired it up to your home. 1 switch does the lights, another does the ceiling fan. etc. But even if just decorative, what a fun project.

should be pretty easy to put an intercom in it and also make it 'useful'.

Nice work.

Too bad Radio Shack is kaput where you could've found the guts to do all the wiring.
