Thanks, I attached a pic link to my original post. See, I always learn something from the forum folks. Wax paper rolled up....I will try that on my next build.  There are so many options to accomplish effects on modeling I finally started to write them down in a notebook.  Thank you for the tip!

Whatever works for you is the correct answer.

I used 3 layers of wax paper to diffuse the LEDs but I think a glow stick tube would work well also.

A+ for imagination and creativity. Now let's see some pics

Here's photo of the nacelle lights. Please don't photon torpedo my post for calling the NCC-1701-D when its an E model! I can't type!

The blue lights have 2 blue 3mm LEDs in each end. I could have used 3 and it may have been better.  The red tips are red 3mm LEDs.  Link: i873.photobucket.com/.../IMG_3233.jpg

Check out www.CultTVMan.com.  They usually have some aftermarket things like this available.

It does sound pretty darn cool, I'd love to see some photos too.

You wouldn't have any pictures available would you?  I have a NX class I'll be building in the future and it would be nice to see the engines lit.

I just finished the older AMT Star Trek Enterprise E 1/1400. I know there are a number of ways to light the nacelles but I tried something out of ordinary (I think). I used small glue sticks. I bored out each end large enough to put 3mm blue LEDs in each end. I also put some chrome poster board in between the light and wiring to generate more reflection as well as hid the wiring. I worked quite OK. I'm going to try this on other ship builds as well. No, heat is not a problem for the glue stick as the LED generates very little. Any comments??
