Hey Joe... it's really looking good so far!  Wish I could afford to get all those printed pieces.  I really want to get all of them.  But, I thought you might enjoy this... my friend Ian is also putting this together... actually 2 of them... one straight out of the box and the other uber detailed to look like the ANH version.  In any event, what he's done with his interior it amazing... it may give you a few ideas...

In any event take a look... I always get inspiration from seeing other's works!  Really makes you stop and think about all the little things they missed and what you can do to improve on them!  Keep the build progress coming and hope this helps!

Well, lol, my DeAgostini Falcon build is back on!

Central room console seat.  Scratchbuilt the base, added seat belts and headset.  Followed reference material for these details and panting.  Will further weather it a bit more. Headset made and carved from solder wire

Made some progress with the interior of the Falcon.  Still will add more detail here and there as well as weathering it more.

Finally received my Shapeways parts!

Here is a quick comparison beteween the OEM part (right side) and the Shapeways one (left).  I airbrushed it with Vallejo's German Grey.  It looks wet because I just finished it.

Here are the grills and a detail of the floor after a little dry brushing weathering. The detail is awesome when comparing it with the OEM part.

Check out the consoles side by side. The right side is OEM, the left side is Shapeways.  It has minuscule hole for fiber optics if you choose going that way.  The OEM looks very toy like.  Once I finished painting all those little details the difference will be even more obvious.

This part of the build is very time consuming, but its fun!

Oh and let me tell you something....that thing about a a "happy wife is a happy life" is one of the most absurd things Ive ever read.  A happy life is about tolerance and respect about what your significant other likes and loves to do. I had to say it. It seems like a very unfair decision to you.

Well, after that little rant I must say I received Month 5!  I still need to work on Month 4 but I'm just waiting on some Shapeways parts that were forgotten in my order.

No further comment about that. You knew they will ship a mounting kit to display the model in a wall so it will be easier to show off, right?

Lol...well...my foray into the DeAgostini Falcon build has come to an abrupt end. I received my first shipment on Saturday and opened it up and upon inspecting the huge size of the finished product on the 1:1 blueprint, my wife put her foot down and proclaimed that there was nowhere in the house to house such a large model and demanded that I return the shipment and cancel my subscription. I'm saddened by this, but like they say, "happy wife, happy life". I'd rather stay married than continue with the falcon, so I bowed out, lol. Maybe I will end up getting the Revell re-release of the FM Falcon after all.

I was the same way djjeavons. I mainly do military and movie/TV car modeling, but when I saw the commercial on TV for the DeAgo Falcon, I was blown away! I began to think that the DeAgo kit was too expensive and too long of a commitment and was willing to think about building another Falcon kit as a substitute, but once I really thought it through I realized that nothing out there will probably ever come close to the quality you'll get with this kit; I didn't want to miss my chance because you never know if this will be discontinued at some point, especially if their Lucasfilm license to produce the kit runs out, so I went for it.

Wow, nice work, will be following with interest! I mainly concentrate on cars but seeing this and being a Star Wars fan has got me thinking :)

Thanks, I know I won't be disappointed. Steve Dymszo, who consulted on the DeAgo kit from his version for Master Replicas states that the DeAgo kit is about 99% accurate, which still means that even though it's not perfect, it is extraordinarily accurate, but with aftermarket parts, some painting, weathering, and detailing, the ship can be as close to an exact replica to the real thing as regular Joes like us could ever possibly hope to have, which is pretty damn exciting.

Just for future reference, not sure if this has been mentioned before, but the scale of the 32" prop is roughly 1:42 scale. The "actual" ship is listed at being 34.37 meters in length. That length converted to feet is about 113' in length, which equates to about a scale of 1:42.5 when you figure in the prop length of 31.75". Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Well...I bit the bullet and ordered the DeAgostini Falcon. Paying $60 a month for two years seems like a hefty commitment, but in the end, it'll be worth it because I will own an amazing replica that will never be approached by any Falcon kit.

To be honest, I was just going to go ahead and wait for Revell to re-release the FM Falcon, and that would've probably been OK, but deep down I'd know that what I really wanted was the 1:1 replica and I would've regretted not going for it, especially if it becomes unavailable at some point.

Thanks for the props. Yes the model will have a wall bracket mount which will make it easier to display.
