Moebius Galactica
Posted by Mark Lookabaugh on Sunday, September 27, 2015 12:11 PM

Finally got the courage to post some pics.  This is difficult for me, mainly because I don't think my skills are even in the same league as some of the talented people here.  Please go easy on me.  :)

Things I learned during this build:  (1) Don't paint areas that are important for structural integrity before they're glued.   (2) Test fit large assemblies early on to make sure there aren't any problems.  (3) You can't have too much micro-set and micro-sol.  (4) Don't spray dullcote on things that are supposed to be shiny.  I had to completely redo the gold text on the base because of that stupid move.

This is one of the best kits I've ever worked on.  For the most part, the fit and design was incredible.  Kudos to Moebius (he's on instagram BTW) for a job well done.

Always liked Galactica, both the early series and the new BSG, your build looks great, perhaps a little more color modulation to break up the monochromatic appearance, even in the vacuum of space objects "weather". From the pix shown your build looks good and congrats on posting, this site is full of good people willing to help with advice. BTW how long and wide is she? How much shelf space does she command?

My best guess is about 18 inches long by 8 inches wide.  She has her own bookshelf level.  The next shelf down has a large scale Cylon, two Vipers, a Raider, and a Space 1999 Eagle.

And if you want to add a little more to your Moebius TOS Battlestar Galactica . . .

There's a great photo-etch set from Paragrafix.  It includes parts to accurize the bridge and add detail to the landing bays and engines.

There are two lighting kits from VoodooFX  (look for set BSGLK-1) and Madman Lighting.   The Madman Lighting set is a little more expensive but includes pulsing engine lights (as opposed to static lights).  It also seems to be more plug and play than the VoodooFX set.

And for the ultimate detail, check the in-scale shuttlecraft from JT Graphics.  A set of three shuttles, about 3/8" long, highly detailed and complete with decals!
