6 hour Bandai Tie Fighter build
Posted by robiwon on Thursday, October 15, 2015 12:57 PM

Built this in 6 hours, from paint to assembly to decals to weathering. What a great little kit. I absolutely love it. It goes nice with my recently completed Bandai X-Wing. These will soon be followed by the Bandai Y-Wing that currently occupies my modeling desk.

Thanks guys. Sprayed everything Duplicolor Primer for the hull and wing spars in the morning. Solar panels were left black plastic. Cockpit and window frame were shot with Testors Gunship Grey. After those dried for an hour or so I started assembly. Cockpit decals went fast even though they are tiny. Assembly took another two hours. I then applied all the external decals. Those dried for half an hour. I then applied an acrylic wash using Model Color black with a drop of blue in it. I used a wide brush and just slopped it on. After that dried dried she was done. Turned out pretty good.

I think I'm going to replace the ship support stand with clear acrylic rod for a cleaner, less cluttered look.
