Wow, she came out nice! I am sure you had a good time, if you have more pics from the contest I would be interested in seeing them.

Oh, and I apparently photobombed this pic without realizing it, LOL!

The circuit board was to control a set of LEDs that would flash in sequence, one right after the other. This was for the runway landing light effect seen in the entrance to the landing bays.

Personally I think the original battlestar is way better looking than all the newer designs. But I'll admit scratchbuilding all that was a hell of a job. 

Thanks Gamera, but sadly, I won nothing. The competition was fearce this year. This totaly scratchbuild Battlestar Odyssius cleaned house though and deservedly so. It was aboslutely beautiful, mixing TOS with the new series.

In memeory of the creator of Battlestar Galactica, Glen A. Larson, and other memorable shows from the 70-80's, I named this ship the Battlestar Larson. Glen passed away Nov. 14th 2014.

You know, for a bit I had considered taking it to an auto body shop and having them spray it for me. But, I figured the paint they use would be too thick. In the end I used plain, old school, rattle cans.

Robiwon, that is looking great. Did you use a spray gun?lol. Wish I was going to wonderfest, that would be nice to see in person.

No washes on this beasty.

Its the way I apply the paint over the primer and black. I do not go for complete coverage with the color coat. I also did not go complete coverage with the primer over black. Both bottom layers just peak thru to the surface of the white creating imitation shadows and shading.

Wow, is that just white paint applied? I'd swear you did some sort of washes or pre-shading but is that just the natural shadows? The details really pop whatever's going on there.

Yeah, I need to go at least once. I've been out to Bowling Green and Mammoth Caverns twice, which was about a six hour drive so Louisville should be a little closer. Frankly though after my accident I just don't live long car trips and am a little paranoid about driving in strange cities. 

BTW: Congrats on your silver! I've never won anything better than a bronze.

If you are a sci-fi modeler, there is no better show to buy stuff at than Wonderfest!!! From all the latest plastic and resin kits to old and obscure kits, figures, sculptures, collectables, supplies, etc. The major model comapnies like Round 2 and Revel display their new releases as well. There's also all sorts of lectures, hands on demo's, celebrities doing autographs, tutorial classes, etc.

Oh, and the model contest itself! Largest in the country. I believe over 600 entries last year (I took home a silver! Giggity). The best of the best models and builders in the country, really, all over the world as many come from outside the US.

I highly suggest if you are a sci-fi modeler you check out Wonderfest at least once. One time is all it takes to be hooked!!!

I think I should be able to finish the physical build this weekend. Paint during the next week. The base will not be elaborate at this time. Just don't have the time to do a fancy base. That can come later though. Both landing bay bottoms attach with screws, so when I have the money I can grab Mike's great landing bay full detail kit and add it in later.

Man, this is looking great! How are you on your time line? Hard to believe May is half way through.
