Halcyon "Aliens" Warrior — WIP
Posted by Aaron Skinner on Friday, March 11, 2016 9:56 AM

As a break from projects for the magazine and other things, I decided to break open a Halcyon 1/9 scale Alien Warrior. This is the original release with the egg, not the later "Attacking Alien." I picked this one up in the vendor room at the 2015 IPMS/USA Nationals, but I built one when it was first released in the early 1990s (then as a break from working on a paper for Uni).

The black plastic parts are nicely molded with good surface detail, but there's flash to be removed and a distinct ridge along the edge of the parts that I scraped off with knife.

The body and legs have a lot of curves and the spring in the plastic required a lot of clamping and rubber bands. Dry-fitting these parts brought back a lot of memories of the first time I built this kit, especially the gap on the right shoulder that will need shimming and the misfit long the thighs.

Cheers, Aaron

Aaron,

Nice start on the Alien Warrior. I've seen this kit on eBay a few times, but, haven't pulled the trigger for the purchase.

Thanks for sharing, and I will be following your progress for this build!

Very cool Aaron and it's good to have you back with us. Looking forward to seeing how you paint him, I've seen lots of people try to capture the movie look in different ways.

All right, another Halcyon Aliens kit build! Woo-hoo!!!  Looks like it's gonna be a bug hunt; better saddle up, Apone!

I only need to know one thing: Where. They. Are.

Last time I followed the instuctions and it ended up looking pretty good. Got a couple of ideas I want to try on this build.

Cheers, Aaron

Hello Aaron -

I have never seen this kit before so I am definitely watching this until the end. I hope you enjoy the build and it brings back some great memories from the first time you built it.

This is the first time I've ever seen one of these  being built up from the beginning. You can count me in for the rest of it. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us.

It's good to build some monsters every now and then still have the creature on the back burner

Hey Aaron, I also have this kit in my stash though I have never seen one built.  It will be fun to follow along on your build.

Hey Aaron, it has been a little while, any updates? I hope you haven't shelved this project.

Not shleved, just put to one side while I work on "have-to" projects. Cheers, Aaron
