I find that while I am out of work and looking for my next position, I have some more time to spend at the bench. I picked up this Bandai Sandtrooper a few months ago because I was always fascinated with these guys - gee, don't you think it would be a bit on the warm side wearing those uniforms on Tatooine?
I put this one together in a couple of days. It is essentially a snap kit although I did put some glue on a few of the pieces. He is articulated and posable and comes with a nice selection of guns. I chose the gun that looks most like how I recall the Sandtroopers.
I used only a few drops of paint - a medium gray by Model Master on the nose intake. The decals in this kit were mostly hot garbage. The decal intended for the shoulder pad thing was particularly finicky and would not lay down correctly. I wanted the orange pad (did not have a bottle of orange paint and am not purchasing any modeling-related stuff until after I get my next job) but the black one is also prevalent in the two or three sequences in A New Hope that feature the Sandtroopers.
Weathering is Tamiya weathering compounds, mostly sand but also a few smudges of soot.
