Maschinen Krieger Models
Posted by redpelon on Saturday, August 13, 2016 6:56 PM

Hi all, question to any of you that build the Maschinen Kreiger models (1/20 scale SAFS Suits). As you know they have the connection parts to the arms, legs and such and was wondering what kind of paint any of you use. I have tried several paints (acrylics, and some enamel) and that stuff will not stay on. Must be the rubber or plastic they use. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have washed and cleaned with alcohol and no good results. The one I am buidling is from Wave. Tks and have a great day.

I realize this is a reply to a six year-old query, but the question was posed how to paint, or rather, how to get the paint to "stick" on the Maschinen Krieger models. Hasegawa uses an oily release agent on their molds as do all manufacturers, and one would be well-advised to soak the trees in Simple Green, Dawn, or Mr. Clean as I use. I haven't experienced this problem because as a matter of course, I always soak the sprues in a detergent solution an have never had this problem. Also, I prime my parts which gives the surface some tooth to which the paint can adhere. I believe if you soak and prime, you will have success in this area. Best wishes and good health to all my fellow modelers!        Virginia Cork
