Not sure how detailed they will get, but it will be interesting if they talk about the colors.  My Polar Lights 1/350 keeps staring at me, waiting for the build to begin :D

From Popular Mechanics:

The Smithsonian Made a Movie About Restoring the USS Enterprise

Building Star Trek airs in September to mark the 50th anniversary of the original "Star Trek" TV show.

Last month we went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum to see the fully restored original USS EnterpriseEnterprise model from the 1960s "Star Trek" TV series, which had been hanging neglected in the museum's gift shop. Now, with the show's 50th anniversary looming, the Smithsonian Channel says it will air a documentary about the restoration on September 4.

Building Star Trek follows not only the museum's long project to bring the originalEnterprise back to life, but also the mission at the Seattle EMP Museum to restore the bridge from the iconic show. The documentary airs at 8 PM Eastern on Sept. 4, which is just four days before the official 50th anniversary of when the first episode of "Star Trek" aired.

Ah krap, wish we got that channel! Guess they'll probably put it out on DVD or some streaming service though.

They gave us that channel and it comes up with all sorts of good subjects.  I always keep an eye on it.

Watched this last night, but was disappointed it was not about the model, but more about the 50th anniversary of Star Trek.  Very enjoyable in that regard, however.

Perhaps we'll get a more comprehensive detail of what they did to restore the model later.
