It's a build and play kit with lights and sounds, landing gear become the display base. Yes, landing gear on a star destroyer. But, it's been said to have nice details and once some of the play features are covered, it is not a bad kit.

I went to my local Hobby Lobby last night and did not see them with the other Star Wars kits.  However, I did find them on the very top shelf above the automobile kits, along with the Revell Star Destroyer and AT-AT from Rouge One.

Can anyone tell me anything about the Star Destroyer kit, especially as it compares to the old MPC kit?

Well Revell is now boxing many of the Fine Molds Star Wars kits under their label. And Revell with Hobby Lobby have a long partnership history. Perhaps they may pick up those kits.

I hope if these kits "fly off the shelves" that they will decide to stock a more extensive line. I know they were one of the only places to pick up the Revell Force Awakens kits, but they were high priced and more or less toys you assembled. Not quality scale models like Bandai and Fine Molds Star Wars kits.

Went to my hobby lobby today and they had the same kits as stated above. I did not buy anything but it is nice to see that. Hopefully they will bring in other kits also.

I found the Bandai TIE Interceptor at Hobby Lobby today for $29.99. Using my 40% off coupon made it a whopping $17.99. They also had the Bandai X-wing double kit that included both a 1/72 and 1/144 scale kit. I've had several Fine Molds X-wings so I didn't feel the need to grab it, plus the fact that I only had one coupon and that set was $39.99.

The old MPC kit I built back in 1983 was not bad for its day, but no where near this neat little kit.

One interesting feature are a pair of clear green rods that can attach to the solar panel wingtips to simulate laser beams being fired.

Damn...it's not on their website and I don't have a Hobby Lobby w/in at least 100 miles.  All I see are the Revell kits.

They also had the large sized snap Star Destroyer by Revell (lights and sounds) for $45.

I think that I need to swing by the local Hobby Lobby to see if they have those kits in stock here. Thanks for the heads up!
