Bandai B-Wing? Found some pics!
Posted by NucMedTech on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 9:44 PM

Hello fellow modelers,

I saw on Culttvman's a upcoming release for a 1/72 B-Wing slated for release late spring/early summer 2018. I could not find any other info on this. Has anyone else heard about this or have more info?

For now it is just "product under consideration", but I don't think you need to worry.  Sit back, relax, and it will come sooner or later.  Preferrably sooner.  Big Smile

That would be awesome, also the B-Wing looking bomber from The Last Jedi would be great too.

I'd love to see a B-Wing. From what I've heard the 'RotJ' kit has some big issues.

I've built it a few times, snap tite box scale, very vague details. I still own the large Kenner B-wing and pilot I bought many, many years ago when the movie came out.

Gamera, word on the street is that the old MPC B-Wing was not too far off accuracy-wise.  It was just small and had the usual MPC quality moldings.  I built one back in 1984 or so, but it wasn't as fun to play with as the X-Wing and Speeder Bike.

Thanks Rob and G. Going to wait and see what Bandai does but it's good to know that I do have the MPC option too.

I would lover to get my hands on a Kenner B-wing, but they are very pricey now. I have also built the MPC B-Wing and like most of those kits of that era you will need to put in a little extra work, but; it is not a bad kit to start with.

Really hoping that Culttvman is right and a Bandai kit is on the way soon.

I bought mine when I was in college in the early 80s. It hung in my dorm room along with a Kenner TIE Interceptor and MPC speeder bike I built. My now 13 year old son played with both Kenner toys and they went from being near mint to slightly played with. A mislabeled droid bounty hunter named Zuckuss (he was supposed to be called 4-LOM, but they mixed up the names), piloted the TIE. He was on clearance as was the B-Wing pilot.

Rob,

That is so cool that your son is getting to play with them. I hope he is having as much fun as you did having them.

I found a link with pics of the up coming release Of the B-wing. Scroll down to the bottom.

Thanks for the link Stephen!

Funny, the Star Wars and Pacific Rim stuff is the only models there I had any idea what they were... Stick out tongue

Gamera, the Japanese model kit rabbit hole is very, very deep.  Most of the "scale-only" modelers do not dare go down.

You see, if you take the blue pill you wake up in your house, safe and sound, with all your planes, tanks, ships and cars.  Take the red pill, and you will see things that you couldn't possibly imagine.  But you can only be shown the door.  You must choose to go in if you want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes...

I fell in by accident long ago, and I still return to the scale world from time to time.  But there are things down there that even I won't touch, like those 1/12 scale toilet diorama kits.  No good can possibly come from those!

Anyway back O.T., still nothing further on the B-Wing.  But I am confident it will come.  Hopefully Bandai will do a TIE Bomber after.

Lol Real G! I swear sometimes Japan is like a whole 'nother world (in the best possible way!)

I look at some of the stuff on HobbyLink Japan's site and it boogles my mind. And to think this is just a tiny sample of the crazy stuff- probably 90% of it is never exported beyond the county!

One day, one day, I've got to get off my butt and take a trip over there. Probably would end up with someone asking me about Mount Fuji or something and having to tell them I spent the whole two weeks in various hobby shops... Embarrassed

Stephen,

Your wish is granted:

Rejoice, rejoice everyone!  Nien Numb looking pilot figure included!  The stand is surprisingly ugly, but the kit looks fabulous.  JPN MSRP is just south of ¥5,000.

Yes Bish, but it's teeny!

"That's no moon, it's a space station!"

"That's impossible, it's too small for a space station."

"Turn the ship around, now."

"...I think you're right, Chewie lock in auxiliary power."

"Chewie lock in auxiliary power!!!"

"Raaargh!"

"Why are we still moving towards it?!"

"We're caught in a tractor beam, it's pulling us in!  There's nothing more I can do, I'm already at full power!"

"So I guess we'll have to buy it?"

"Luke, there are always alternatives to buying."

"...liiiiiiike?"

"Oooh look, B-Wing!"

Thanks for the link G, some nice models to look forward to. I like the death star trench scene, to bad they did not rescale the exhaust port to 1/144. At the size shown Luke would not need the force to hit that.

The Solo movie Falcon looks "interesting", I do like that it has an interior. May wait until I see the movie before deciding on purchasing one though. I think I need to be a little more invested in this early version before comitting to it.
