Hi everyone. This is my first post. Hope you can help my return to modeling be a success. I never was very good. But one thing I love about the internet, you usually can find out how to do something.
Before he passed away last year, my father was building on the Polar lights 1:1000 Refit Enterprise. He loved modeling. And was very good at it. Although he stuck to WW2 planes and some cars. He assembled the kit and was working on the Aztec decals. For whatever reason, they look bad. They’re on straight. But they have bubbles and a glossy film to them. Maybe he wasn't done.
Anyway, I want to complete this kit. I broke it down into sub assemblies. Fortunately, the only Aztec decals completed are the saucer top. I tried using the tape method. that did not work well If at all. So I tried sanding. Started with some used 6000 grit. Not much came off. Tried 1000. Not much better. So I went down to 600. That started taking it off. That sheen is gone except in the grid line. But it now Looks like a sticker with the print part gone but the paper backing is still there. And the gray hatches didn’t come off. Should I so more? Or just sand and prime?
Thanks.
