SMS Kshatriya Gundam 1/100 Build
Posted by OkieDude on Monday, February 18, 2019 11:35 AM

I’d like to share my latest project with everyone, this being the first resin kit for me. It’s an 1/100 SMS kit of the Kshatriya gundam, beautiful kit and beautifully molded. I decided on a pearlescent paint scheme with light/dark green. The kit went together very well with minimal adjustments. Painting with gloss pearl colors has always been a challenge for me, mostly trying to keep dust/particulates of the wet paint. It was an incredible learning experience, never have I learned so much from one kit. I have about a month of work into it, it isn't 100% complete but I think I need a little break from it. I just needed to see it assembled Big Smile I decided last minute to make the model static, the ball joints were made very small so making the joint articulate would have been more involved than it's worth. I pinned/epoxy the major points. The model weighs about 3.5 pounds and is about 22 inches tall mounted on the stand. It was quite an engineering feat just to get it to balance on the stand. Indifferent

Very interesting build. The pearlescent paint looks fantastic. Really a great job. I can't believe it's that big!

I know nothing about Gundam but that's a beautiful model. I love the paint job too! Heart

A Bandai rep said it could not be done in 1/100. Trust the resin guys to fill the void!

Wow, how that is how you build and paint a gundam. Have you thought about submitting an article or reader gallery pic to the magazine?
