1/32 AMT TOS Bridge build
Posted by Jim Kirk on Thursday, February 28, 2019 4:23 PM

So I wanted to build this as accurate as possible.

I researched the floor and airbrushed it to reflect the carpeting seen on the size set.

I fixed the turbo lift door.

The chairs are there temporarily ...They are inaccurate to the Burkes chaired used in the series...

I corrected the helm as the kit was way off.

The model will feature a screen with a TOS star field, or some planet or something I will film. It's kind of just set up for now.

The walls are "wild" and simple screwed in so I can add electronics and lighting...

Looks like a stunner so far. Yes

Will you have figures to populate your bridge? If memory serves, the three included with the old kit were a little weird in their dimensions. I seem recall the 'Sulu' one looking particularly strange....

Yeah, looks fantastic!!! I have three of the original boxings I intend to combine into one whenever I get around to it.

I was also wondering if the figures you have in the video are the ones you're using or just stand-ins. The figures in mine look horrible. I've heard the newer reissue has much better ones. A friend swapped his out for some figures from a ST chess set that is pretty close to 1/32nd.

I've grabbed some 1/32nd figures I thought I'd convert. But lately I've seen some nice generic fantasy/SF 3D printed figures I thought about ordering and trying to use. No way I'd get the figures to look like the actors so I figured I'd do another ship and just make them different Starfleet personnel.

That bridge demands high quality figures!  Anything less would be an insult to your awesome work!

So you're doing the Klingon bridge too?? Stick out tongue

The more I think about it funny no one has made a garage kit of a Klingon bridge to go with the Enterprise one yet. Or the movie era Enterprise and/or the 1701D.

If a Federation personnel ever saw a TOS Klingon bridge, we would have to kill him.  Super Angry

But seriously, my Trek-Fu is weak; I don't ever recall seeing one on the show.  We did get to see the Romulan bridge though, in "Balance of Terror".

Sorry, I'm joking since you have the D-7 on your video. Guess it wasn't a very good joke... Embarrassed

Yeah, we didn't really see a Klingon bridge until The Motion Picture.

PS: Now that I think about it I think some of the interior of a Klingon D-7 was shown on the animated show from the '70s. Which is generally now considered non-canon.

This is awesome. I didn't get this kit the first time around, but got it during the reissue craze of the late 90s-early 2000s. The heads are very well done, but seem too big for the bodes.

Its more canon that Enterprise, JJ travesty or Discovery junk. Nice bridge btw.
