Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 7:06 AM
I recieved an Email from Fox allowing me to link to the AvP movie website and access an exclusive movie clip shedding some light on the creature effects in the upcoming movie.

For all those who want to see it, email me and I'll forward you the email. I can't guarantee it works for you, but its worth a shot..

Man, I can't WAIT for this movie. I'm a huge fan of predator, so this will be amazing to watch. The preview I saw didn't have that much. Michael, I sent e-mail, hopefully that link will work.

Alien vs Predator? Get a life, guys - it's no contest. If Ellen Ripley (one lone, aggro human female) can lash together a rifle, a grenade launcher and a flame-thrower and beat the pants off the Aliens, then I'm fairly sure they'll be easy meat for a warrior race like the Predators.

If people (and I mean you lot) would stop paying money to see rubbish movies, then maybe, just maybe, Hollywood would get the message and we'd see some DECENT SF on the big screen. And don't even talk to me about Mr Lucas and his pathetic efforts of late.

Nice first post, RobG!Wink [;)]
Welcome to FSM.

Perhaps you would care to enlighten us as to what you would consider to be "DECENT SF?"

Well, I'm not rob_g, but a good start would be something other than the teenaged-boy mentality of "like, what if Spiderman fought the Incredible Hulk?" Tongue [:P]

I've read a few of the graphic novels and there is a little more to it than that. In the books the earth has been infested with aliens and the few men alive have gone underground. The wealthy live in floating cities above the desolate surface. I don't know if the movie will follow this plot line but it seems like to me that the Aliens as a whole are a parasite race thats gets more powerful with the more hosts available. A few humans and a few Predators against billions of Aliens, sounds like they have their work cut out for them. By the way if you are not aware of it the Alien vs. Predator francise is atleast 10 years old. I'm looking forward to it! It's going to be good!Wink [;)]

I agree with J-Hulk. Wink [;)] Movies are for entertainment. If you need to be educated or mentally stimulated, how about reading a book?

Yeah!
But just so you don't think I'm TOO low-brow, I did read the entire Dune series last year (well, all of Frank's stuff, anyway).
That was more than enough education and mental stimulation for me!

Your not low brow at all J-Hulk. You just have your priorities set on normal. Tongue [:P] The last Dune book I read was God Emperor and I lost interest in the series after that. It seemed to be getting a bit wacky and self serving. My 2 cents [2c]

That nutty super-mentat Duncan Idaho theme throughout the books was way wacky!
I dug it, though.
My fave was "Children of Dune" (you know, it had the most low-brow superhero butt kicking action! Leto in the super-sandtrout suit!). I heard the Sci-Fi Channel made a movie of that, but it hasn't made it across the pond yet. I did see their "Dune," and was quite impressed.

Very little dialog as Jhulk pointed out. Few credits too unless they enlist some big name "meat" for these guys to chew on.

Also, let us not forget that the Alien vs. Predator concept has already been explored, very briefly, on film.

In a scene of Predator 2 near the end of the film, Danny Glover's character enters a Predator ship and sees the "trophy room" with a wall of bleached skulls from the Predators' kills. One of these was from an Alien, implying that these two races have met before.

Another point of interest gleaned from the Dark Horse comic series is that the Predators are responsible for spreading the Aliens from planet to planet, seeding the eggs to create more Aliens for them to hunt. The Predators use the hunt as a ritual undertaken by their adolescents in order to enter into adulthood and to become true hunters.

I absolutely LOVE the idea. I've been waiting for this movie for fifteen years. I sure hope it's a good one.

Mark I hate to brust your bubble on Alien,Predator stuff. If there is one thing Hollywood should do is research, the comics need to do the same.1.the Alien is a bioenginered weapon constructed by the race of beings that was in the first moive.James Camron butcher the Alien plot with a queen alien. The alien itself could regenerate limbs and body parts that were blowen off. This was not in the first moive the to the gorerness and ratings people. Also the alien not a queen made more aliens by a lrave which was made by the tubes on its back. This part along with the first were cut by Ripply Scott due to ratings. If he had left all this in and the history of the alien he would have recived an x-rating due to the bloody gorey mess.I have read the book before the moive came out back in the early eightys. The alien lrave ate its victims while alive forming the leather eggs that you see.In the moive it shows Dallas in webing asking to be killed. The machince who was stached first was to be showed with his head sticking out of an egg.
This is in the book writen by Allen Dean Foster but was cut from the moive because of the reasin given.
Now the moive off ALEINS vs PREDATOR,I can't wait till it comes out to see it.I think that the Perdator will win unless a Alien gets an infect him inwhich the new Alien would abbsorb his knowlegde;then it will be a Battle Royall.Digger
