The Space Interdection Ship, Type 3
Posted by ikar01 on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 10:13 PM

The interdection ships are designed off of the old water traveling Destroyers.  They are heavily armed with 4 turrets, two Fore and aft for medium range.  For close in work as well as defense there are a collection of short range tripple gun turrets, rocket pods, two heavy rotary turrets, and two twin barreled weapons under the ship.

These ships are dwarfed by most of the other fleet ships but are designed to approach their targets at high speed, get in close, to point blank range if possible, and do as much damage as possible.  They have been known to be able to tear the side of a ship apart in one or two passes.  It's the old saying about death by 1,000 cuts but brought to life.

Because of its design and mission, slicing up other ships, I have decided to call it "Sweeny Todd"  It just seemed appropriate.

So;

 Does this mean if I use a reactor instead of boilers and seal her up good and add some spacey stuff I can fly my Bouy Tender/Houseboat conversion?

For those who might have missed the original idea for thee projects, they'er based on the old cartoon series Starblazers.  In it Earth is losing a war against another planet until it receives help from a third civilization who sends the technology needed to build a ship that can reach their planetand pickup what they need to revitalize the Earth.  It had to be a ship capable of fighting its way there and back and sdtill handle the alien technology.  In secret they picked the wreck of the Battleship IJN Yamoto that by now is exposed on the dry ocean bed.  All its weapons have been modified into energy weapons including one very powerful bow gun.

In keeping with this idea I thought of building a 1/350th model using the old Tamity Yamato kit but once looking at the work needed to be done I decided it was just too much.  Eventually I decided to follow Japanese tradition and make a similar class vessel called a assault ship, part battleship, part dcarrier.  This would become the Toronaga (from the Shogun story), It carried a smaller bow gun, dieeerent defensive weapons, fighter launch bays buried in the sides of teh hull and a sizeable flight deck and somewhat different type engine.

Other nations were given the technology and provided various types of ships, it was shown that it was easier and less expensive using old wrecks as the basis of their designs.  The fire support ship William Tell was based on the Bismark and the Interdection ship, Sweeney Todd wouid equal a destroyer.  It would carry enough medium and small weapons to pass a enemy ship and hopefully slice it to pieces as it went by at high speed.

I'm working on other designs to go with the basic idea.
