I never realized that the Revell bagged kits looked that good. In my mind I always thought that they were more toylike, without ever having seen one. I guess that it was the packaging. What scale would you guess that they are? 

 

I know Revell also released them in blister packs for around $10 at stores like Walmart.

Yes, the wings are movable/posable. I hope that the base paint locks them in the open position. I had thought about the closed position, but since there is no heat down option on this kit, i went with the open position.

I pulled mine out and yeah- they're regular DVD. I'm not sure why I was thinking they were Blu-Ray. Probably the same version you and Real G have. I can't argue- grain and all gotta love them as I first saw them.

I think I have the same DVD set you have.  When I bought it I made a decree that no Special Edition versions shall be watched in my house, ever.

I first saw Star Wars in the summer of 1977, and I want my memories to always stay that way.

The DVD I have with the original 1977 version and the “special edition” is the same thing. The original was made from the laser disc. I still prefer that version, grainy appearance and all. George got it right the first time.

Oh wow, 10cm!?! Guess it didn't click with me how small 144th scale was here till now. That is even more sharp work considering how small it is. 

I'm not sure about my edition of the movie- it's supposed to have the 'original' and the 'enchanced' on different sides of the disc. I need to pull them out and check them- I think though the 'original' cut is just the laserdisc version burned to a Blu-Ray without any attempt to clean-up the prints.

Your x wing looks good.  I never noticed the red bars indicating squadron member.  I'm just finishing up the 1/72 bandai at-m6. They're really fun quick kits.  I also have the x wing kit.  Looking forward to building it.

Edit: No way the at-m6 I'm building 1/72. It's not marked with a scale.  Internet guess is 1/550. Fits in your hand.

I used a red sable brush for wash clean up...

I just need to fine tune the R2 unit and possibly add a little Tamiya weathering medium soot...

And to now answer the question that I am sure was keeping nobody up at night for my markings choice....

I modified the kit stickers, yes it comes with stickers, not water slide decals, into the markings for Red Leader. And while I was leery at first of using the stickers, I must say that I was quite pleasantly surprised at their quality. I was able to burnish them down nicely using a toothpick over surface detail. Banzai Bandai!

and now I’ve started the weathering to bring out all that fine beautiful detail... but it’s cool and damp here today so the wash is drying quite slowly.

Lol! Thanks Gamera! That’s pretty much how mine ends up in the movie... but then again every X-wing in the movie is hit at least once... even Luke...

Bish, Bandai does make several 1/144 scale Star Wars kits. I kinda like these little guys!

MB, thanks for that info. I’ll have to give them a new look. The packaging just throws me off.

Yesterday before the family thanksgiving meal outing, I masked off and painted on the fuselage red stripe. I had a bit of bleed under the masking, but was able to scrape most of that off with a toothpick. Hopefully upcoming weathering will take care of the rest...

If I had to guess, I'd say relatively 1/76th scale. The figures are smaller than 1/72, but seem almost 1/76. Maybe a touch smaller.

I bought one of the TIE Interceptors on a whim and was delighted by the detail level and the parts fit. I started buying more after that. The TIE's are about the same scale. The Jedi starfighters were larger (almost small enough for 1/72) and the Republic gunships were smaller than 1/76 for sure. So scale was not a consideration when Revell produced these kits.

Nice work on that so far Carlos. I had not realised there were these kits in 144.

Oh cool, when I build my X-Wing I just might do Biggs or Wedge too. Nice change from Luke all the time.

Was Porkins in a X-Wing or a Y-Wing? I don't remember now.

They are the Revell "Quick Build" series that were in the vacuum sealed bags. I've got a couple of TIE Interceptors too.

I had the entire series at one point.

Thanks. The schemes were based on my ancient recollection of Rogue Squadron from the novels. Honestly I don't remember if I got the right schemes or not. I was just painting them up from memory about 9 years ago now.
