Oh yeah, I have to get back on that kit too! So many kits, so little time. 
BTW, change of plans for the base color. After watching the opening sequence to ST:TMP many, many times, I am switching over to a grayer green. I like the muted colors as seen on screen better, versus the brighter actual prop colors. What stopped my build was my dissatisfaction of the impulse engine lighting. The single LEDs just don't cut it, so I have to venture out of my comfort zone and modify the kit lighting to take two more.
