Group build is now live! Who says you can't sucker punch people as a dirty trick?

Going to last 1 month from today. I was concerned about people getting kits from Asia but Japans announced all ports are shut so we couldn't get them even if we ordered them. Since the other group builds all last 3 months and I find by the end of month 1 I've lost a lot of interest 1 month sounds a good way to wedge ourselves in and get something done. A quick and dirty group build if you will.

Decided against doing a prize for best thing this time due to circumstances, if someone can't get what they need to build their idea because of postage restrictions it's not fair they lose out on something they may of won. If this goes well we'll do more in the future and hopefully then it will be possible.

Anytime is a good time for starting a model, now finishing one is another story.

That is my biggest foil. I love to build, but I hate to paint. I will build several kits up, just awaiting their day in the paint booth. So these 90% complete kits sit for months and months, some over a year.

I enjoyed building some of the pre-decorated kits that are out. I can finish them with little painting.

I grabbed a few of the ancient Revell armor kits that were "molded in color" back in the day when kids didn't paint the entire model. I have a desire to just hand paint these old kits with white Testors paint brushes to see how bad it would have looked like if I built it in the 70s and 80s.

Yeah, there's a bunch of great GBs going on right now that I wanted to join but had to pass over for time constraints.

But hopefully I can work this in somehow- so as Real G said the ball is your court.

Good points all.  You call the ball.

In the meantime, I will continue on the Sea Swine.  I have plenty of of other mechs that need dirt.

When would be a good time to start this? There's a corona group build going on right now and I don't want to step on any one's toes. Some people may want to order kits from Japan as well.

I have a Destroid Monster I have been meaning to build but I'm putting iy in Clan Markings From Battletech/Mechwarrior. In cleaning a area of my garage I stubled on a Hasegawa Valkyrie kit that I started a lond time ago.  Now might be a good time to finish it.

By the way I love the Maximillian model you have there, if I recognize it correectly!

Yes, I built two of the three models from Disney's The Black Hole. The large MPC space ship, Cygnus, is long gone except for a couple of the clear parts. Maximilian is complete. Poorly built and unpainted except for the silver painted claws.

I did buy the Vincent robot off of eBay many years ago, but did not build it. It didn't interest me back in the 70s, don't know why I bought it.

Lol, I think I would have painted some red on Max's blades and chest for Antony Perkins blood and guts.

I definitely have a kit (or two) that I would pull out of the pile to build for this group build.

Hi everyone,

I have a gundam or two that I could chose for this. That is if you decide to continue with the GB.

I’m sure everyone is occupied with the COVID-19 thing, so regardless if the GB takes off, I’m building a dirty Seapig.  Maybe I will look back after a couple of years and say “Oh yeah, I built that one during the Great Pandemic of 2020.”

Plus you got me thinking about dirty robots, and that has gotten me wanting to make some!  Ya did yer job.

BTW, I’d like to see the pole dancing C3PO.  Any takers?  And he’ll be taking only Imperial Credits or Zulags.

Did you just call me a seapig G? That's not very nice you oceancow!

Is 7 enough to go ahead with do you think? I don't know how we'd draw in more people, mentioning it other places might work but the only places I know of I wouldn't like bleeding over to finescale, very different personality types.

Heven't looked at this site for a while, so I just saw this. Is it too late vote for a mech group build? I have many Gundam and Macross kits that I need to build, and I could be stuck in my house for months...

Robotism,

Since it has gone quiet, I'm going to build this in your honor:

It will be dirty.  Big Smile

Hey Rob, if you ever want to get rid of a coiuple of those Robotech kits let me know.

I have a Macross destroid Monster that I can use for the build.  I can put it in markings for the Battletech/Mech warior series.

I have many of the old original built kits from the 1980s. Not very well built. The unbuilt ones were obtained after looking on eBay and model sites. Most of them are replacements for the old ones I no longer had.

Some of the unbuilt ones, but not all of them.

That makes 6 of us. Ideally I would like 10 minimum and 15-20 ideally so we get good finishing numbers.

I've got some of those old Revell Robotech kits I've been itching to build. I also have one of the Last Jedi modern AT-AT looking gorilla walkers that may fit as well.

I “might” be interested. I have a 1/144 Sazabi from Gundam that is in line to be built some time. However if the build focuses on weathering I’ll have to think of something else as I’m planning to keep the Sazabi clean.

Yep, I’m in.

I have boxes of MaK, plus a couple of 1/100 scale ground pounder Gundam kits that really need the weathering treatment.

But NO Sailor Moon mobile suits with shorty-short armored skirts.  That kind of stuff would have to wait for the “WTF Gunpla GB”.  Sadly to say that type of Gunpla is gaining traction in the community...

Mecha group build?
Posted by Robotism on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 12:31 PM

Is there any interest in a mecha group build? Could include any robots from Droids to Mobile suits, so everyone can get involved. I was thinking it would be cool to do a "dirty robot" build and have it focus on weathering since mecha kits always look great with heavy weathering, especially Star Wars ones.
