Super cool Fotofrank, that little viper looks like it has fangs.

In regards to a 72nd F-16 Viper, check Tamiya and Hasagawa. I would recommend Tamiya, thier 48th stuff is really nice. Great build good sir.

Thanks, hogfanfs. The Moebius kit is a two-fer so I still have one I can build, I just need to figure out what kind of "what-if" I want it to be.

OK, here we go! Moebius 1/72 scale Colonial Viper Mk. II is complete. My wife likes it because it's colorful with the red accents. I guess it could be a prototype fighter for the newly inaugurated Space Force. Anyway, the model was a fun little build. After the AK Xtreme Metal overall aluminum the model was accented with Tamiya Flat Red. The recessed areas and the guns are highlighted with Tamiya Panel Line Accent Black to make 'em pop. The canopy framing is red just for visual interest. This little guy will look good on the shelf with the Star Wars "What-If's".

Here we are, a little more progress. Shot the color this morning. AK Xtreme Metal Aluminum for the overall color. The exhaust is AK's Dark Aluminum sprayed with Tamiya Smoke. The Viper will get a clear coat tomorrow followed by some accent colors yet to be determined.

 .

I'm inclined to find a good F-16 Viper kit in 1/72 scale and build it to go along with this build.

Funny you posting this build.  Just last night I was interested in this kit and watched a couple build videos.  Both modelers used a mask and paint for the red stripe instead of the decals.  Interesting to see what you decide to do with it.  The engine and exhaust nozzles look like they would be fun to paint and weather.

Shot primer this morning. Still trying to come up with a "what-if" idea.

Thanks fotofrank. Mine are 32nd but I can imagine any issues would be similar if not actually amplified. Your welcome.

armornut

Hi, is that a 72nd scale? I have a couple of Mobius Vipers in my stash. They look like very high quality. Looking forward to seeing your " what if" scheme.

Armornut, it is 1/72 scale. The molding is good. I would compare the kits to a vintage Revell or Monogram kit. It's an easy, quick build. Thanks for looking in, armornut.

Closer to paint. Finished up major assembly and masked the canopy. Had to fill some gaps with Vallejo Plastic Putty. May shoot some primer tomorrow. Still trying to decide what kind of "what-if" the little Viper will be.

The pilot and cockpit for the Viper. Pretty tiny.

Moebius Viper Mk. II Completed ...

I bought a Moebius double kit, the Colonial Viper Mk. II a while back. I'm finishing up a couple of other builds, they're out on the paint bench, so I thought I'd go of in a little bit different direction for this build. Last year I built two Bandai Star Wars kits, an A-Wing and an X-Wing as "what-if's." I'm going to do this Viper as a "what-if" as well, I just need to figure out what "what-if." Two things I already like about this kit: 1) It comes with a pilot figure and 2) it has a display stand. This kind of build always looks better posed in flight when done.
