That turned out GREAT!  And lit, no less.  Star Trek kits IMHO are best when illuminated, as it is part of their "look". 

The Star Trek Enterprise is complete! Since you last saw her I misted the ship with a custom white grey blend to tone down the starkness of the decals and to help blend everything together. The stand is finished. If you know your Trek you'll recognize the insignia as Engineering. Montgomery Scott doesn't get enough credit so here's a shout out to him!

Lots of fun, a few different skills required, I'll never want to go back to the dark side and use standard decals again  ;-) and some fun playing with LED's! 

She's looking good!  Not sure about the thin spray of red/blue.  Just have to try it out on a section and see.  Make it so!

Whoah there Chris, am I seeing double? Both Enterprise's are looking great.

Hasn't been much to show of late. Lots happening around the house that's kept me away from the bench. Made some good progress this weekend finally. The base color is down, i used citadel's Corax White to get that off shade. 

Finished up page 1 of the decals tonight.

Ive been thinking for the aztec coloring that i would thin down some clear red/blue etc and spray a light coat over the model. Then do the final clear coat. What do you guys think about that?

The "E" is a handsome design.  Based on what you have shown us, I think your lighting will turn out fine.  But now you have to PAINT the thing!  Ah the vagaries of building Star Trek kits.  Guys who can handle Aztec-ing and paint zillions of colors deserve some kind of special medal.  Maybe the IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) Award?  That would be logical.

I'll get my coat an go back to the Star Wars section of the forum...

Sorry no real advice, I keep buying SF kits but always reach for a tank when I build my next model instead of building them.

Hopefully I can provide some motivation though- what you've got looks good!

I've never built the Soverign class ship, only went as far as the "D', partly because of teh aztck paint job.  If this kit need thqt kind of look I thik you could find the maasks at Federation models.  I'm new with lighting so about all I can suggest is when it comes to the rest of the lights, you can cut down on the amount of work by spraying the inside of the hull with a gloss silver and the dull out the windows to cut down on the glare shinning out.  I did a 1/350th NX-01 and did this to keep the light levels lower.  If not I have seen some models with very bright lights showing, which I think is far out of scale.  These are windows, not search lights.
