Science Fiction ideas and subjects needed for production
Posted by roguemodel on Thursday, April 15, 2004 10:24 AM
Scale Model Technologies (SMT) is looking for ideas on kits to produce. SMTproduces kits of large scale and exceptional quality. If enough interest is shown in a subject ( ie: LIS Bubble Fighter) the kit is produced. SO! Let Colin know what you might like to see.smtemail@telusplanet.net You can also visit their website at www.smt.theshoppe.com

How about the Jules Verne airship from "Robur the Conqueror"; or, any of those delightfully Victorian aerial contraptions from "Space 1899".

I used to love a comic book called Space Family Robinson by Gold Keyl Comics back when they cost 15 cents an issue. No, not the one based on Lost in Space with the Jupiter 2, but even older than that. This ship was named Space Station 1.

The spaceship was a large ship with a clear bubble for a telescope and another for the bridge. The ship was cabable of landing but usually the family went down in shuttles which had a clear nose. Really cool stuff for the early 60's.

Here is a link to the comic. There are examples of the ship scattered thru out the site but this link will show you one at the top of the page. I think while everyone is scrambling to do Star Wars, Star Trek, and Babylon 5. A line of kits for us older guys 'n gals who remember the nostalgic 60 and 70's would be great.

Enjoy the link and the memories.

the Andromeda Ascendant, the Maru
some decent Space: 1999 stuff
Space Academy and Jason of Star Command and Ark II
2001/2010 ships
Space: Above and Beyond- Warhammer, Carrier and enemy ships

I know that some of this is already in limited production via resin, etc. But, I'd like to see it in production at a reasonable cost for those of us who love sci-fi but are on strict budgets.
